I have Five of the daughters and both sons. They lived in Chester le Street, Ouston and Pelton/Pelton Fell in their lifetime. I have checked St. Mary and St. Cuthbert's Church in Chester le Street to no avail. Can you help? I haven;t tried Holy Trinity Pelton. Ben.

Hi Tracy, Thanks for looking for my William and Charles Pearce. You said you had found Charles Pearce bricklayer in 1851, I found him in 1861, could youplease tell me who else was at the address at the time? (Bentley Heath is near Barnett, Potters Bar but William could have gone anywhere. I find it incredible that after months of searching I still can't find a trace of him. A chap who knows the Bentley Heath area and searched for Williams birth but found no trace of it told me that I should just give up!) Thanks again Chris

Hi Tracy, Thank you for your kind offer. I have a puzzle. I have a Caroline Rouse in my tree. I think I found the right Caroline in the 1901 census as a visitor to a Taylor household in Marylebone. She is listed as being 28, a maid, born in dover in Kent with a 6 year old daughter Alice. She married in 1914 (as Caroine Elizabeth) and her father is listed as Archibald Rouse (deceased), a private in the rifle brigade. I can't find a Caroline Rouse in free BMD that matches. I wonder if she appears in any earlier census with her father. I would be very grateful for any information Thanks, Christine

hi tracy, please can you solve this one for me. i already had my gt-grand mothers marriage certificate for 1902 [florence edith barber to benjamin hackett] so i started to trace the barber family. i eventually found them on all censuses so far but florence was not with them on 1901,i asked for help on the message boards and a marriage was found for her to a william church 1898, she being just 16yrs old.on the 1902 marriage she is stated as being a spinster. my question is how do i find out if the first marriage was dissolved[her first marriage was in norfolk where she was born, the second being in salford lanc's] regards gwen

Dear Tracy I have a Joseph McGreaves born in Bolton Jan - Mar 1882. He doesn't appear on the 1901 census (although there are other McGreaves in Bolton - none of whom appear to be about the right age). In April 1908 he marries my relative Florence Goater in Bolton. Can you find him anywhere? Can you see if there are any births after 1908? FreeBMD just has the one and that is too early (I think!) The marriage certificate has his father's name as Samuel Lumb but I can't find him in 1901 either! is this likely to be his step-father? Every time I think I'm getting closer with this it gets more twists and turns in it. Sorry if this is rambling and confused. Thanks again for all your time and troubles. Best wishes Maria

Gewn, I wouldn't know where to look. It is unlikely that the marriage ended officially. They probably just went their separate ways. Would explain why she ended up in Salford lol
