I think that would be best. There are 4 on Lancs BMD. In 1891, they're down as Ryding. He's a Pipe fitter on there.

Lynn Report 14 Oct 2005 16:52

Do you think it is best to write the liverpool record office with both details and hope that both of them don't have a father called Joseph. I can't think of anything else apart from the latterday saints website...which I will do now. Thanks for all your help Lynn

☼ Orangeblossom ☼ - Tracy Report 14 Oct 2005 16:47

Not in Lancashire, but she may have come from elsewhere, but that's unlikely. You have a choice between the Lodger and the Daughter. It's very difficult with names like Elizabeth. There's hundreds of them.

Lynn Report 14 Oct 2005 16:45

OhHHHwahhh! I thought I had them then. So you think it is the family at the bottom from 1881and there are no other Josephs as heads living with a daughter Elizabeth? Will have a look at the 1881 census Cheers lynn

☼ Orangeblossom ☼ - Tracy Report 14 Oct 2005 16:33

Lynn, I'm sorry. I have confused you. The family that fit perfectly are from 1881. 20 years too early to be yours I'm afraid. I'll have a look for Elizabeths near any Evans' I found these two... Jas Evans abt 1865 Bel Foreign Subject Head Manchester Lancashire Mary Ellen Evans abt 1863 Manchester, Lancashire, England Wife Manchester Lancashire Agnes Evans abt 1897 Manchester, Lancashire, England Daughter Manchester Lancashire

Lynn Report 14 Oct 2005 16:31

I bow down to your search skills yet again. Now the issue is which one is her?...I looked at my wedding cert again and there is a witness MARY ELLEN EVANS and james Evans. Could this be her sister Mary Ellen in the census? and she has married an evans. I will do a search on marriages in Lancashire between 1881 and 1905 to see if there is a match with her sister. Fingers crossed we go.. Cheers Lynn

Mhairi, I can't see them anywhere either. They were hiding well that day lol

☼ Orangeblossom ☼ - Tracy Report 14 Oct 2005 15:45

Sorry Anne, but I have no records to be able to check between 1901 and 1920. I can only check addresses for information of people, and BMDs.

Lynn Report 14 Oct 2005 15:42

Now this is a real mystery because I only have a marriage cert to go off and don't know where people were born which makes it really difficult to find her in the 1901 census. So here goes... Elizabeth Riding married in Dec 1905 aged 22, to William ward (Plainer) living in church street, Chorlton in Manchester. her father is called Joseph riding and he is a gasfitter I would bow down in awe if you solved this one! Lynn

Unknown Report 14 Oct 2005 15:29

Hi Tracy, Just as I thought. I have a feeling that these two didn't marry until after her first husband's death which I think I have found in 1886 9c 211 March qtr, Sheffield!!!!! I couldn't find it either. Thanks for looking for me. Margaret

☼ Orangeblossom ☼ - Tracy Report 14 Oct 2005 14:59

Margaret, you're not gonna like this, but I can't find one lol Could they have married outside Yorkshire?

Lynn Report 14 Oct 2005 14:27

Hi Tracey! It is definately him...thanks for your help. Podmore is mis-spelt hence I couldn't locate him. What it does mean is that when his first wife died - Martha (allegedly 1864) he didn't mess about getting married again. So I will now search to see if there is amarriage between 1864 and 1871. Fingers crossed Lynn

Unknown Report 14 Oct 2005 14:26

Hi Tracy, Thanks for looking for the marriage of Charles Poole and Ann Wright. Perhaps you could try to find Ann Wright's 2nd marriage to Walter Rodgers for me please. Their 1st child was born 1874 in Sheffield, so I am presuming that, if they did marry, it would be before that time. Regards, Margaret :-)

Hi Tracey, Yes please help! Missing person in 1871 census. Searching for Daniel Podmore born 1799 in sandon, Staffs and he died 21 Nov 1876 in Sandon, Staffs. In 1861 Census he is living with his wife Martha his child Ann who is 35 and some lodgers. His occupation is gardener on this census (labourer on his son's marriage cert ) 1861 referenceRG9 1911 page 139 residing in sandon, staffs Can you find him? Thanks in advance. Lynn
