I bow down to your search skills yet again. Now the issue is which one is her?...I looked at my wedding cert again and there is a witness MARY ELLEN EVANS and james Evans. Could this be her sister Mary Ellen in the census? and she has married an evans. I will do a search on marriages in Lancashire between 1881 and 1905 to see if there is a match with her sister. Fingers crossed again...here we go.. Cheers Lynn

Lynn, I'm sorry. I have confused you. The family that fit perfectly are from 1881. 20 years too early to be yours I'm afraid. I'll have a look for Elizabeths near any Evans' I found these two... Jas Evans abt 1865 Bel Foreign Subject Head Manchester Lancashire Mary Ellen Evans abt 1863 Manchester, Lancashire, England Wife Manchester Lancashire Agnes Evans abt 1897 Manchester, Lancashire, England Daughter Manchester Lancashire

OhHHHwahhh! I thought I had them then. So you think it is the family at the bottom from 1881and there are no other Josephs as heads living with a daughter Elizabeth? Will have a look at the 1881 census Cheers lynn

Not in Lancashire, but she may have come from elsewhere, but that's unlikely. You have a choice between the Lodger and the Daughter. It's very difficult with names like Elizabeth. There's hundreds of them.

Do you think it is best to write the liverpool record office with both details and hope that both of them don't have a father called Joseph. I can't think of anything else apart from the latterday saints website...which I will do now. Thanks for all your help Lynn

I think that would be best. There are 4 on Lancs BMD. In 1891, they're down as Ryding. He's a Pipe fitter on there.
