Hi Elaine Any chance of looking on the 1841 for my GGGrandfather, John Cree, born Beighton, Derbyshire c1805. He married in 1842 in Portsea so not sure if he will be in Beighton in 1841. If John is not there, can you check for his father, Joseph please, wife's name unknown as yet. Thanks in advance. Lynne

Elaine Thanks, that's brilliant, I now know John's mother's name! I think the Joseph married to Eliza may be John's brother but no way of confirming that at this stage. (My John also married an Eliza). I just wish this lot had been a bit more imaginitive with their names - all Johns, Josephs, Anns and Elizas - LOL! Thanks again. Lynne PS: I wish I could make the Matlock meet so I could thank you personally for all you have done for me! Unfortunately I am busy that weekend, maybe next time.

Hi Claire, Piece 107/861/15 Folio 13 Wollaton, Notts 1841. Henry Towle 26 Labourer (Y) Ann Towle 25 (Y) Mary 6 (Y) Jane 1 (Y) Could the above be your Henry ? I'll go and check for Ranch ... and add details to this reply shortly. Elaine :-) There doesn't appear to be any Ranch (or variants of the name) in Nottingham 1841. I'll check the other census's to see if any are lerking elsewhere ... but NAMES would help to narrow the search down ? Elaine :-)

Hi Dancer if you have a name index for 1841 Derbyshire, will you kindly look for John Colledge Roome, born 1827, Duffield. he was not baptised till 1852 at Duffield, a year befor he married in Heanor and it just lists his mother as Ann Roome, no father on the igi, i have looked through the Duffield and surronding images and not found him, so thought a name index may have him, else ware. Kindest Regards Gary

Hiya Gary, I'm so glad I can try and return one of your millions of lookups !!. Right, I'll add more as I go along - just to keep you interested ! ... but here are 2 entries to start with ... you'll see why I've included one of them ! ROOM JOHN M 75 DERBYSHIRE BACK STREET DUFFIELD DUFFIELD DERBYSHIRE The only one listed in Duffield ROOM JOHN M 15 DERBYSHIRE HAYWOOD MAPPLETON DERBYSHIRE The only one of anything near correct age .... Hi Elaine Sorry to be a pain but you looked up William and Mary Ann Coxon for me yesterday in Nottm. I dont think either of them were mine but I have found a death for a William Coxon in 1839 but no age mentioned so am wondering if Mary Ann could be widowed with sons John 1836 and William 1838. Thanking you for your kind help Lin

Hi again Linda, I would have looked for all: William, Mary Ann & Ann and would have given you the only results found for any of them. I will go and recheck ... just incase. Elaine :-) No Linda sorry, there are only two entries for Mary Coxon of the approx age ... and the only other entry is for a John Coxon aged 3 with both parents and hoards of siblings but no William is listed on index at all under 5. Sorry. Do you think they could be in another county by any chance ?

Hi Elaine Thanks for looking again. I am really grateful. I think they will be in Nottm but don't know where. You have just set me thinking, she came from Leicestershire and I wonder if she went back to mum and dad if she was widowed. I hadn't thought of that. Back to the drawing board. Thanks again Lin
