Do your discs cover Newcastle under Lyme? If so would be really grateful if you could look up William Rice (born c1816). In 1861 census he is living at 5 Paradise St Newcastle Under Lyme with his wife Bridget (born c1831) daughter Mary should be on 1851 census too born about 1849. Thanks in advance for any info, Annabel

Hi Jackie Re Griffin family. I only have Thomas Griffin, wife Emily and children in Willenhall on 1891 census and Thomas's marriage cert to Emily Shorthouse in 1874, Wolverhampton, St Paul's church, his father was shown as Enoch Griffin, a japanner. Thomas's occupation was Gas Fitter and in 1891 a brass finisher. Other than that I have no other information on them at all. I did find a William Griffin on the 1871, born Wton c 1827, also a japanner, who could possibly be Enoch's brother. Don't know whether any of this will help, as I said, a very elusive family!! Regards Ann

Hi Jacqueline, Many thanks for the info, Edward may have joined the Artillery earlier than I thought, but the William and family looks promising, have something to work on now. Hope your exams went well. Kindest regards and thanks, Kaye.
