Thanks Mary I think father was William Bavin (that's name on her marriage cert), mother Elizabeth Bavin. In 1841 England Mary was in Cambridgeshire, with elizabeth, 10 years later she's with gran (says mother on census) Mary bavin in Wimblington, Cambs. Confused? You bet!! Christine

Hello Mary I would be very grateful if you could help me to find what happened to my dads uncle Bartholomew Mcdermott. b1871 married a Margaret Stanley in Liverpool 1890 and then emmigrated to Canada in early to middle 1890's. My Aunt recalls hearing stories of him working as a train driver and says he took one of the first trains across Canada. I hope this is enough for you to be able to begin a search. His fathers name is Thomas, mother is Amelia Banks. Look froward to hearing from you Best wishes Gillian

Hi Mary - many thanks for your kind offer. Could you look on 1850 census New York for - Charles Peace (age 24) Maria Peace (21) Sarah Peace (1) Charles & Maria arrived 23/09/1848 on ship New World from Liverpool - Sarah wasn't with them so am assuming she was born in America. They also had a son John Charles Peace born New York 1850. Many thanks - Sheelagh

Hello Mary If you get time could you please see if you can find any record of Margaret Ada Riley emigrating to Canada. She was born Kilmarnock, Scotland 10 June 1859 and I lost her after that until she married my g.grandfather William Thomas Bailey in Garrison Chapel, Halifax, Nova Scotia on 22 September 1880. Cert gives her age as 20. So I imagine sometime between 1876 and 1880, unless of course she went with parents as a much younger child. Her Father was Edward Riley, c. 1839 Mother Agnes (nee McKinnon) c.1840 Any help will be much appreciated. Many thanks for your offer Jan

CHERYL ANN GUEST Had a look but cant find anything at the moment but there are hundreds to look at so please bear with me . I wonder if you could give me a bit mor info. ie his parents names, where he was born in England, when his daughter was born and what makes you think Texas anything will help to narrow it down as the US records are vast and have to search thousands of names. it does normally take a few days unless I strike lucky please let me know if you have any more info Regards Mary

Hi Mary, Looking for immigration records from Scotland to Canada before 1857. Can you help? William Christie c1836 and Margaret ?Hanning c1838 - both born Scotland. Their son John was born in Ontario, Canada c1857. Unsure if they were already married when they emigrated, came over as singles, or with their families. Thanks. Margaret

CHERLY ANN Hi have searched for hours and this is all i have come up with so far. This could be them in 1900 Federal Census, but living in Wisconsin. Possible moved to Texas later. Janes name is not on the list but she may have been born at a later date. Although I was wondering if Jane could be middle name. James Rowe Head BJune 1850 England Immigration 1882 Kate Rowe Wife Born 1856 Wisconson Dorothy Rowe Born Apr 1889 Wisconsin George Row Born June 1891 Wisconsin Phillipa Rowe Born Sept 1892 Wisconsin Garner ? cant make it out born Oct 1898 Living Milwaukee Ward 18 Wisconsin ------------------------------------------------- Found The above Phillipa on 1930 Census Unmarried Occ Social Worker/Family Welfare, Still living Milwaukee ------------------------------------------------------- Death Phillipa Rowe Born 4th Sept 1892 Wisconsin Death October 1963 ------------------------------------------ Did also find some children born to a Dorothy Rowe and a Dudley Walz Curry in Texas, thats what made me wonder about Jane. I think the family might be them as you gave the parents names as george and phillipa. so it would be natural for James and Kate to carry on the names see what you think and get back to me. I will keep looking in the meantime, havent found james death yet, also do you know if his parents went to US also Mary

Mary, Thanks for the offer. Not sure what records you have there, but I'd be really grateful if you could find any info on the following: William Halsey b1803 Shoreditch, London and Christiana Halsey b1810 Surrey. They married in London in 1832 and after that they must have gone to live in America for a while. Their eldest two children were born in America: Frances Halsey b1833 and Charlotte Halsey b1835. They were back in England by the time their third child was born in 1838. I'd be a really happy bunny if you are able to find any trace of them. Helen
