Steve I have just found marriage James Evans and Sarah Wright 1868 Nantwich cheshire. So i guess Samuel and Ann had Sarah's maiden name and I assume Emelia would have done the same? As she is not on the 1881 census i can only guess at that. Many thanxs for your help again Lesley :~)

Hi again steve RE: evans I have just figured out that Emelia, Samuel and Ann must have been from Sarah's previous marriage as James would not have been old enough to have had Emelia, and on 1881 census Samuel and Ann have surnames Wright and are Step children. Sarah must have travelled around for a while as had Emelia in her birth town then had Samuel in shropshire then all the rest back in cheshire. So i guess they got married between 1865 - 1869 in Cheshire could you have a peek for James Evans & Sarah marriage? Many thanxs Lesley :~)

Hi Stephen I would guess either Stockport (which is Cheshire i think) or Middlesex or London Sorry i dont know anything for definate!

Stephen

Stephen Report 19 May 2005 14:34

Lesley in 1871 the Evans' were living in Grindleys Green, Wrenbury, Cheshire. It's not the first time I've seen children alternate from son/sau to stepson/stepdau and their surname tends to change accordingly. I think a lot depends on who gave the information on the census form at the time, nothing more interesting nor sinister than that. Cheers Steve

Stephen Report 19 May 2005 14:30

Natalie Do you have any idea what region Wallace/Walter would have been born? There are 52 possibilities on the 1901 census, all over the country. Cheers Steve

Hi Steve Thanxs for that. What is the address please? Any idea why Samuel and Ann had different surnames in 1881 census than 1871 census, In 1881 it said Step son and step daughter both surnames Wright. Yet in your 1871 census they are Evans's. Thanxs again lesley :~)

Thanks so much for all of that Steve. I think this must be the Daisy im looking for as her name was definitely Humphreys. Thanks for the info on Aubrey ill look into it.

Stephen Report 19 May 2005 13:34

Claire Yes, the Daisy I found was the same one you had found. As for Aubrey, I can find only one Aubrey Ambrose on the 1891 census. Obviously the year of birth is an estimation based on age and since Aubrey was born after the census date, then they would underestimate. Name Estimated Birth Year Birthplace Relationship to head-of-house Civil parish County View Image Ambrose, Aubrey abt 1883 Leeds, Kent Son Sevenoaks Kent Ambrose, Cora abt 1889 Hollingbourne, Kent Daughter Sevenoaks Kent Ambrose, Ela abt 1885 Leeds, Kent Daughter Sevenoaks Kent Ambrose, Ethel abt 1887 Leeds, Kent Daughter Sevenoaks Kent Ambrose, Frank abt 1880 Leeds, Kent Son Sevenoaks Kent Ambrose, Lillian abt 1879 Leeds, Kent Daughter Sevenoaks Kent Ambrose, Susan abt 1846 Elham, Kent Wife Sevenoaks Kent Ambrose, William abt 1843 Harriestham, Kent Head Sevenoaks Kent Cheers Steve
