Hi Ellen, Thanks for the offer. I would like to know what siblings Robert John Telford had. He was born in 1874 in Kirkbean, Kirkcudbright the son of David Telford born 1849 and Mary born 1851 both probably in the New Abbey, Kirkbean or Southwick area of Kirkcudbright. Best wishes Ian

Isabel I need a little more help here. There are 300 James Watsons in Lanarkshire. Do you have any idea of how old you'd expect him to be in 1881? Why Glasgow - what information are you working from and does it have anything more specific than Glasgow? Regards Ellen.

Dawn I'm sorry, I'm really struggling with your Mcgills. No Joseph McGill anywhere. No Mary McGill who could be Joseph's wife on her own or with a family. I think from memory the census was early April so they should be married. Tried Mary McKenna, but no luck either. I'm going to have a look at the National Index and see if they slipped into England for a while. I'll get back to you. Ellen.

Ellen

Ellen Report 19 May 2005 08:06

Dawn there is only one Joseph McGill born 5 years either side of 1853 in the whole UK (minus N Ireland). He was born in Kent and is living in Sussex, so not your man. I think they must be hiding somewhere mistranscribed. Sorry couldn't be of more help. Regards Ellen.
