I am new to this website and did not know the right buttons to press (too exited over info i was given ) so most of my thank yous were sent direct to the person who gave the info, (i was clicking on their names) so on my threads it looks like i have not replied, Over this weekend i have found a long lost brother and great grand fathers names i had never heard before and its all thanks to this website for pointing me in the right direction, so if i never do so again (because i am to exited about following info up ) A GREAT BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU ON GENS REUNITED. from MAUREEN FOY>

My pet whinge - when you find a possible match in names summary - email the person with 'request to view your tree', then either.... 1. don't get a reply at all!! 2. A nice message saying of course you can.... but no tick in box means you still can't! ( i understand they probably dont realise a box has to be ticked) Another is when you email information re a possible match with your tree and again no reply. I reply to all messages whether its a negative or positive response that is needed!!

Not sure that 'floozy' is an accepted occupation on the census, is it? And how is anyone going to find Keith Alone in the Darkness - will he be indexed under Alone or Darkness? I am feeling happy and sanguine this sunny morning and my only moan is that I have nothing to moan about! nell

As I have never been first in line for anything, apart from disappointment every week with the National Lottery since it started 10 years ago, I have never had any need for such a word or any of it's regional variants. I can see that I am going to have to change that pseudonym

Reb I am so glad you saw the error of your ways before I got back - honestly, a girl (erm, well,) goes away for a few days and some floozy comes along and tries to steal her man. And while I was away, the grumpy squad came back complaining about a thread entitled 'Irritations and Moans'. Really, what did they think it was going to be about? I am quite sure I speak for nearly everyone on these boards - no one minds helping a Newbie. Nearly everyone minds doing ALL of someone else's research for them, especially when they are no longer a Newbie. This thread has NOT been about helping Newbies, its been about people taking advantage of other people's good nature and being unmannerly to boot. If some people find this thread offensive then I suggest they don't read it. No one need be put off asking for help, whether they are New or Old - they will soon know if they have 'offended' because no-one will answer their post. I too have stopped going on the General Board because I find the level of bad-tempered bickering and people taking the huff, very wearing and negative. I enjoy the Tips Board AND the Records Board because you can get some serious work done and have a good laugh while you're doing it. Long may this thread reign! Marjorie

Sharyn What the hell is a 'dibb'. Is it some technical term used by older people to describe us 'young George Clooney' lookalikes? Chill Keith

I would like to say a personal thank you to all those fantastic people out there who take the time & trouble to look up info on other peoples family trees. In the last 2 months thanks to the hard work and help from 3 or 4 great genes united members, I have gone from great grandparents to, on 3 branches of my family tree, my 8th great grandparents.( As far back as 1650!!) I know it's a wonderfully rewarding hobby for a lot of people and the help members have given me has been amazing. You don't have to do it and I think everyone should give you a big thankyou. I always acknowledge any emails I get even if they are not the right family as any lead could be helpful' and I appreciate the effort members make to look up the info. SO PLEASE DON'T GET DISHEARTENED if some people haven't the good manners to reply. I'm sure there are many people like myself who appreciate your replies so much. ONCE AGAIN A BIG THANK YOU Zillah PS I'm looking for RUDD & TUCKER & BOWDEN(Devon), KNIGHT & RICHER (Suffolk), HOLLIDAY & FITZHUGH (Northampton) Please let me know if you have any connection with these names.

Chloe The forecast is for rain on Monday, so it looks like I shall at the ERO as well. I'll wear a big L plate so you can recognize, and avoid, me. I hope you are not going to be looking for Stanstead Mountfitchet records, otherwise we might be arguing over who gets them first. That _would_ be fun. Sharyn The reference to my unlit loneliness portrays the way I'm beginning to feel about this family history business. Perhaps on Monday I shall find 'glorious summer'. Keith

Essex on the net - cheers for that Chloe, hadnt realised. Have a few Tracys and Sharons to find ..... cue Essex Girl jokes - maybe not ! By the way Jools, Itchycoo Park is in Billericay, Essex - opened in 1964 to celebrate my O-levels ! (BIG clue !) We used to laze there on a Sunday afternoon .... looking at Lucy in the Sky .... wait, that wasnt till '67 ! I still think that most of the 'irritation' content could be taken positively as a learning aide. Alan - I just spotted your sheep reference - LOL.

Is it, Nell? Should I be scared? I know what I'm looking for. The parish records have been transcribed on the net but I was wanting the originals and the same with what is on the IGI.
