We can go overboard if we like... This is a moan thread!! And I beg to differ, it DOES do people good to get little annoyances off their chests, this thread is cheering me up! I would rather have a thread like this than lots of 'can I have a moan' threads.... I don't want to start an argument, but if you don't want to read peoples moans, don't read this thread.

Instead of whingeing Julie, pull your finger out and find my ggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg ggggggggggggggggggggggggg(......)ggggggggggggggggg-grandfather. I know his son was Adam who had a wife called Evelyn (I think), they had two sons at least and maybe some daughters. I once had a book with their family history but seem to have lost it. Family legend has it that their pet snake choked on an apple. Thanks in anticipation for anything you can find.

I'm sorry. I hold my hands up - I am also guilty of just posting 'I've mailed you', then sending people the results of a look up. I apologise to everyone. In future I shall post look up results on the thread. Joan x

jools- loved the kitchen sink crack .lol. [no pun intended.] for ages i was having to post images to people, i could not get the hang of saving and sending images via e mail. [ as you may remember jools- doh] i spent 2 hours once, trawling the 1861 for someone, found what she wanted, she messaged me her postal address- she lived less than 2 miles away from the local library, which was the same area i had spent 2 hours looking through. when i queried this, she explained that it was easier for me, cos i had the discs !!!!! ahem ! i rest my case.

Joan That's different though cos that's your personal thread where you are physically going to the LMA and doing the look ups for people. You post the results how you want, hon! I think what was meant there was when it's a thread, i.e. mine asking for Ancestry, someone says 'Have mailed you' and everyone else is then left thinking 'Well has she got the info she wanted or do we keep looking?' And I'm rambling so I'll shut up and go back to my Bibb's and the maltesers I've just found in the fridge! Lou xx

Geoff

Geoff Report 26 Mar 2005 00:32

Zoe Sorry, you've failed - however interesting the family history may be, never let anyone else know that you've actually found it. The message 'I have just e-mailed you' is quite sufficient.

People who want lookups with minimal info. offered and then log off for the day, leaving all your questions about place of birth, age, etc unanswered for over 24 hours. Crista

Only 24hrs??? Mind you, I did that the other night, think Sammy wanted to slap me by the end. It was like playing 20 questions with a 3 year old. I blame the drugs! Lou

People who ask for information then change their name and re-post the same request Do they think we wont get feelings of deja vu at the ancestors names even though theirs is different?

Geoff, do you have two brothers called Caine and possibly Albert in that family as I think we may be connected.

Geoff

Geoff Report 26 Mar 2005 00:51

Joanie I sympathise for any dodgy responses that you may have had from anyone. We were all newbies once. On occasions the 'more knowledgeable' (your words, not mine) need a safety valve to avoid unnecessary explosions.
