Joan Palmer Report 2 Feb 2005 22:30

I go to the LMA most Tuesdays. If I can help anyone by doing a look up I’m happy to. The more specific details you can give me, the better my chance of finding what you want. UPDATE : CLOSED TILL FURTHER NOTICE. Thank you

Hi Joan Thanks for the offer and if this is a little vague then please don't worry about it. I'm desperately looking for a birth or baptism record for my gggrandfather, George Bibb, who was born circa 1827 in London or any details from his marriage to Sarah Ann Hooper in December Qtr 1850. I don't know exactly where George was born as he died in 1856 so have been unable to find him on any census to get an exact idea of birthplace Many thanks Lou

Hi Lou As he could have been born anywhere in London, I'll target the Kensington churches for that qtr and see if I can find the marriage. That might give you an address for the 1851 census. Joan x

Ah Joan, my illusion of you sat there with a crystal ball like Mystic Meg has been shattered! Thanks again....ANYTHING on him would be brilliant, as he's not on census indexes, NBI. BVRI, IGI....!!! Lou x

Grace I don't think that they have very much in the way of Catholic records, particularly church records. I expect someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'll see what they've got and do my best. Joan x

Hi Joan Excuse my ignorance but could you advice me please. Would the LMA records turn up anything that has not been found on 1837 online. I have trawlled through 1837 on line for a birth entry for a Mary Ann Hickett born c1854 Marylebone, plus a marriage entry for her to a James Page from 1871 through to 1890 and have found no trace of either birth or marriage. I have 4 of their childrens birth certs all stating mothers name Mary Ann Page formery Hickett. Found the couple on 1881 census (married) but no trace of her prior to this on any census. Any help, info & advice greatly appreciated Tilda:-) Message Up Date: Thank you for your reply Joan & the info, and many thanks for your kind offer. I know your time at the LMA is valuable, so pleased dont waste it on this look up. I think she was beamed in by aliens - LOL. Re: Marriage - My feeling exactly in that they never married - but then I learned a couple of weeks ago that someone had found a rellies marriage 19 years after the birth of their first child. So I kept trawlling through 1837 on line. Once again, thank you - Tilda:-)

Hi Tilda The LMA holds films of Parish registers, amongst other things, but without a date or an area to use as a guideline the search could be very long. Possibly, Mary Ann Hickett’s birth wasn’t registered, but she may have been baptised. You say she was born c1854, Marylebone so I could look through some Marylebone churches, perhaps from 1852-1856, in the hope of finding a baptism. I wouldn’t like to give you false hope though. Maybe she and James Page never actually married. Joan x

Hi Joan Thank you very much for the kind offer of a lookup. I don't know if you can help me or not but I am trying to find the children of Matthew Taylor and Sarah Bouchard who were married on November 23 1799 at St Dunstan, Stepney, London. She was the daughter of Pierre Bouchard and Margaret Campar. I do not know the parents of Matthew or anything of a birth/christening date for him. Sarah was born May 29 1776 in Bethnal Green. So far all I have are the details of our ancestor James William Taylor son of Matthew and Sarah but he was christened at Walthamstow in 1810. He married a Caroline Lillywhite in Brighton, Sussex in 1831. I found two names on the IGI which I wonder if they are related to this family. John William Taylor c 9 April 1815 Spitalfields Christ Church, Stepney, London and a William Taylor christened 2 November 1800 Spitalfields Christ Church, Stepney, London. Both listed with parents as Matthew Taylor and Sarah. Still very much a newbie to genealogy I would appreciate any help or advice to find members of this family. Thanks Irene

Hi Joan I think it is really great you offering to do this for people......can I please add mine to the list? What I need to know is any information on a Reginald Gray. One got married in April/May/June 1906, the reference numbers are 1a/653 in Fulham and as the dates fit I think it might be my great grandfather. I would like to know who he married. If this isn't enough information for you don't worry about looking as I'm sure you have enough family of your own to look for! Thank you anyway........good luck with your own search. Peter

Hi Joan. I don't know if this is covered by the LMA, but would it be possible to look up details of a marriage for me, please. I'm after any extra info on the marriage of George Anderson & Mary Lewis that took place at Poplar All Saints in 1826. Thank you Helen

Most kind of you Joan!! I have found a birth on Freebmd and just need to clarify that it is the correct person. The name is Lavinia Connor b. June 1906 Camberwell 1d 962. I would love clarification that the parents are Ada Elizabeth Connor and William Edward Connor. I have a possible address of 'The Lugard Tavern' in Peckham. If you get time, would you be able to lookup Ada Elizabeth Hamilton's marriage to William Edward Connor listed on Freebmd as being June 1903 Islington 1b 666. The family ran various pubs in London and this marriage was Ada's third..... Thankyou for your help Joan. Kindest Regards Dawn

Hi Joan I wonder if it would be possible to look something up for me. Mary Ann Homer was born 1828 in Islington. I believe the parish records for Islington are held at the LMA. Now, I don't know what area of Islington she was born in, hence, I don't know if you can look this up or if it would take too long. Her father's name was Richard Homer, and her marriage certificate says that he was a coach proprietor. I don't know her mother's name. It would be a big breakthrough for me if I could find this out, and also what area of Islington they lived in. Please let me know if this would be too mammath a task for you, or if it would be possible. Thank you so much Lisa xx

Dear Joan I wonder if you can solve a puzzle for me My GGG Grandfather & Grandmother Married in 1817 in Marylebone. On the IGI there marriage is down under two different dates the 2nd and the 23rd of Feb. I would like to know the correct date. The IGI doesn't state which church but as that family always seen to use St Mary's Marylebone Road I guest it might be that one. Their names are William Brewer & Rachel Pinnock. Thank you very much for offering your help. Regards Maureen
