Hi Joan, Where in London are The Metropolitan Archives, and how far back do they go? Ken

Hi Joan Please forgive my lack of response to your reply. I must have been tired when I checked. I've checked the parish register. I've also checked the 1861 census and they are not at Oxford Street. I knew they moved to 2 Eastman Street but they are not there either in 1861. The eldest child Mary is not registered in St. Caths neither is Augustus. The first one to be registered was Sarah Emily in 1851 but in Kensington as I found out very recently. I have checked the 1851 for Bethnal Green and there is no trace. I will now try Kensington once I have the Cert and an address! Thanks for your efforts. Once again my apologies. Graham

Hi Joan, I realise you have already been to the LMA but I thought I'd take a chance and request a look up for when you next make the trip. I don't know how difficult it is to find people in the archives but if my info is too vague then don't worry about it. OK, I'm trying to find where my GGGG Grandfather John Wyeth was baptised and married. I checked the LDS website and it showed my GG Grandfather (also John Wyeth) and his two siblings were baptised at Holy Trinity, Clapham, London. It also showed my GGG Grandfather (another John Wyeth) and his 4 siblings were baptised there. It gave his parents names (or my GGGG Grandfather name) as John Wyeth and Elizabeth Owens. These 2 names are the only info I have on them. I am also unsure if her surname is Owens as usually it just gives a first name for the mother, so it could just be a middle name. Really I just want to find out if John Wyeth was baptised and married in Holy Trinity, Clapham like has chidren and grandchildren. John and Elizabeth's first child was Ann Wyeth born in Nov 1805 so their marriage must have been within a few years before this date. His birth would be from 1770 to 1785. I checked the LMA website and I think they have the parish records for this period. If you need me to clarify any of this or you need more info then just message me. Thanks for your time in reading such a long message. Kind Regards, Nigel Wyeth

Hi Sue I don't think I can be of much help to you as the LMA website doesn't show any registers for St.Clement Danes for the time you need. Perhaps someone going to Westminster Archives can help. Joan x

*Gwen Martin* Hi Gwen I don’t think I’m going to have much luck finding your Lynn family at the LMA. The registers of St.George Hanover Square have been deposited with Westminster Archives. If I do come across anything though, I’ll get back to you. Joan x

Hi Joan Thank you for that. Can I be really cheeky (ONLY when you have time!) and ask for the details for a marriage entry. William Stuart and Elizabeth Martin married on 20th Jan 1852 at the Old Church, St Pancras Thanks Lou

Hi Joan I've had a thought re: the Bibb's! The eldest of the Bibb children, Christopher George, was baptised at All Souls, Marylebone on 20th August 1854. Would it be easier to check the baptism record that we have a definite date and church for to try and get an address, rather than continue to plough thru marriage records for Kensington? Lou

I would appreciate you still looking as I have been searching for over a year and unable to get to London at the moment. Church could possibly be St. Johns but not sure. Please contact me direct if you find anything Thank you

Hi Joan thanks for looking. Yes please as this is becoming a real mystery, because not only cant I find her birth but neither her marriage or first childs birth either. I presumed as the son was born in same place as mother that there was a high possibilty that is/was where the marriage is aswell. This was on 51 census which Im sure holds some clues! 32 King Street, HO 107/1526 f.175 p.33 Isabella Davey, Head, W, 68, b. Scotland Elizth Davey, Daur, U, 29, Tassell Maker, b. London St.Dunstan Jane Twitchin, Daur, W, 38, b. Jersey Elizabeth Davey, Neice, 15, b. Midx St.Lukes I wonder if Elizabeth was born out of wedlock! Then if you look at head of household and two daughters they certainly covered both ends of Britain for birth. debs

Hello Jane I'm sorry but the LMA holds London records. Have you tried the LDS website for your baptisms, or perhaps ask if anyone has access to Derbyshire records. Joan x

Hi Joan, Many thanks for taking time to look for the Marriage entry. I'm completly stumped as to why it wasn't there!! I checked the image again on Ancestry and the details were right. Read the small print as well just in case they were marriage allegations rather than marriages themselves. But it says that they were details of an actual marriage ceremony and confirms that it is the name of the church rather than a parish. I'll see if anyone has any ideas on the boards!! Thanks again Joan, it was much appreciated! Best Wishes, Pippa :-)
