Samantha Sorry its taken so long but I have been racking my brains!! I eventually found a Henry Samuel Brewer born March Qtr 1901 West Ham Essex Vol 4a Page 368. I lloked up on the 1901 census and found him aged 6 weeks born West Ham Union Leytonstone Essex with the decoder I then put in Elizabeth Brewer born Ongar and it came up with them having the same page ID code so I think this must be them!! Elizabeth was 17 in 1901 born Ongar. I can't tell you any more as I can't get images. I did try to find an Elizabeth aged 7 on the 1891 census but couldn't find one - the nearest I could get was one aged 12 born in West Ham living with her sister Eliza as stepdaughters to a William Strong, also with thier mother Eliza Strong born Deptford - it could be possibe that if this was her despite the age, the mother died and left the girls with a step dad who left them ( It's a thorght anyway!!) Hope this helps - you could go get the census image from the site or beg fro anyone with spare creit!! Or send for Henry(samuel) Brewer's birth cert. Cheers Michelle

Hi Michelle, I'm hoping you can help me to fill in some gaps! I'm looking for three brothers Charles, James and William Brockhurst. Charles 64 b. Keele but might be in Warwickshire by 1891 James 60 b. Keele (or Newcastle) married Jane William 58 b. Brewood/Coven They can be a bit difficult to find because they change the spelling of Brockhurst so often, so don't worry if you can't find them all. Brockhouse and Brockus are the most common variations. Thanks for your help! Liz

Thank you Michelle. All I know is that she had a boy called Samuel Henry Brewer. He was illegitamate so he took her name. She brought him up in a workhouse in west ham, thats where she was probably made to live and work. She was a domestic servant. On the 1901 census I have 2 that are likely to be my grandmother. One is 22 in 1901 that matches your findings and the other is 17 in 1901. They both are domestic servants but the 17 year old worked in west ham workhouse. The 22 year old one I do not know. Please help. Very much appreciate if you could send me any images possible to my e-mail.

Can you please try and search for a Frederick (George) Noller who would have been born between 1876 and 1888, married to Mary Grub on 30th September 1906 in Sculcoates. He was a butcher by trade and his father would be Paul (Frederick) Noller. I am trying to track down his birth certificate but am finding it hard to isolate the correct entry/date. Any assistance greatly appreciated. thanks

Michelle Thanks for that image! Wonderful. Now I don't know what to do though, I'm confused!! Regarding the other info you sent me, the Eliza born Huntingdonshire fits the bill with the age, at 72, and to be honest, I have never found a birth for Eliza, maybe I had it wrong, could you tell me who this Eliza was living with on the 1891? Also, regarding Henry, I thought he was born in Plaistow, but the only Henry there is 3 years old, and apparently a son! Plus, by 1891 he would have been 6! However, could you also tell me who the 3 year old Henry was living with? Maybe then I can fathom things out!! Thanks again, Lisa

Geoff

Geoff Report 22 Mar 2004 12:26

Michelle thanks! The mystery name is Eloise whom no one knew existed! Her birth was registered in Q1 1891 and her death in Q2 so I just hoped she'd be on the census. Her mother was Swiss/French so I figured Eloise could have been one of hers. I'd like to have the image as it is please, just to have a look at it.
