Hi Lynda Presuming that the Aldenham Street is too difficult to do - don't worry! However, as the Kensington area seems to be name indexed - would you mind having a look to see if there is a Henry Brown born circa 1838 ( in Paddington) Is that too much to ask? Don't worry if it is. I'm thinking of giving up these Browns! Thanks Sylvie

Hi Lynda Thanks for finding the Harman family for me, but now i am a little confused! Rick found them on the 1841 census living in Robert St, Lambeth the details you have found match the 1841 census apart from the mothers name and age. The details from the 1841 census are: James Harman,30,surgical instrument maker,y Jane,28,n Jane,7,y Mary,5,y Elizabeth,2,y James,1month,y I have found the baptism records for Jane, mary and Elizabeth all baptised at St Johns Horsleydowns, Bermondsey and parents are James and Jane Harman. If Jane Harman had died between 1841-51 and James remarried someone called Catherine then on the 1851 census surely it would list the children as her stepchildren wouldnt it? Jane (jnr) Harman married William Hurlstone in 1855, had a daughter Jane Hurlstone in 1856 and was dead by 1861 as William is listed as a widow in the census. On the 1861 census William is now living at no 1 Vine St listed as the Head with his children from a previous marriage and daughter Jane and Catherine Harman listed as his mother in law. They also seemed to swap houses as on the 1841 census the Harmans are living at Robert St and then on the 1851 census the Harmans are living at no1 Vine St and William Hurlstone at no 2 Robert St and then on the 1861 census William Hurlstone is living at no1 Vine St with Catherine listed as his mother in law. Also the children listed with Catherine Harman with surname Jones and Landers are they definitely listed as Son and Daughter? I suppose this would prove the theory that she married James Harman after his first wife Jane died, wouldnt it? I think i need to sit down with a cuppa and try to take all this in! Many thanks for your help Lynda Kind Regards Sharon

Hi Linda Yes, it probably is - the writing is slightly indistinct on the certificate, I'm sorry that it is over 3 discs, I would be grateful if you have the time to do it - I'm at a bit of a brick wall and this could just get me over it! However, I will, of course, understand if it is to much Sylvie PS Is Paddington on the discs? I might well purchase them if so..........

Hi Lynda - long time no speak Bit of a long shot but I am really struggling with these births becasue of different ages on different censuses and this info might help Henry BROWN and ary SQUIRE both gave their address as Alderham Street in 1954 on marriage cert.(married in St Pancras Church) There is no number but the road doesn't look to be that long so if anyone could look for BROWN or SQUIRE in ALDERHAM STREET, (Somers Town, St Pancras now NW1) I'd be so grateful. Anything about either family might help In hopes Sylvie

Hi Lynda; Not sure if he is my Joseph Walker. Does it also show a child named Joseph with him? He would have been about 14.

Hi Lynda I am trying to trace my Walker family. Joseph born 1836 and his father also Joseph. The only address I have is from the 1871 The Grove Battersea. I would actually be interested in any Joseph Walkers in the Battersea/Wandsworth area. Even anything on the 1861 would help. Thanks Teresa

Hi Lynda I know this the thread for 1851 but I'd be interested too in 1861 please. The look up is for a John SPELZINI b 8 10 1840 St Andrews Holborn. I have no confirmed address for him but 1871 census records the area as Ely Rents, Hatton Garden, Saffron Hill London and later in the 1901 census found at Half Moon Court Holborn. Thank you once again for your time and trouble : ) Much happiness Debi
