Thanks Lynda. Could you let me know the details of those people. That may help me figure out why the 2 g grandparents were living there prior to marriage. Sounds like a comedy trio!! Thanks again, Di.

Unknown Report 9 Dec 2003 04:07

Thanks Lynda. I've been browsing thro Parish records on film at the LDS, so I know how difficult some of this old script is. And have you ever tried to transcribe an 1820 9 page will & testament!!? I very much appreciate the help. Di.

Could you look up camberwell, surrey. In 1881 they lived at: 46 Nutfield Road, Camberwell, Surrey RG11/0677/f93/p38 Hoping it will be George Knott born about 1838 Minster, Kent Maria Knott born again around 1838 Broadstairs, Kent Maybe their sons Francis E Knott born 1868 Fencham, Hampshire and Robert H.L.Knott born 1870 Fencham, Hampshire They might not be there, moved around alot. Thanks for your offer. Angela Born

Unknown Report 16 Dec 2003 10:58

Thanks for your help! At least I know they could have still been in Hampshire then. Angela Born

CelticShiv Report 16 Dec 2003 12:27

Hi Lynda I did get you to look this up previously, but you didn't manage to find anything. Just thought I'd give it a second go, as I have it confirmed now that they were at this address in 1871. the address is 24 Museum Street in Bloomsbury. and the surname I am looking for is either Littlejohn(s) or Sheldon. regards, Siobhan

CelticShiv Report 16 Dec 2003 12:58

Hi Lynda Thanks for that, I have a marriage cert which is just after 1871 which gave that address, so I was pretty sure one of them was living there. Obviously they were not. Am not having much luck finding Edwin in 1871. Oh well back to the drawing board. Thanks AGAIN

Vivian Report 18 Dec 2003 05:02

Hi Lynda I am looking for WAGG families at: 72 Gloucester Place, Portman Square 40 Bryanston Square, St Marylebone Many thanks for the generous offer. Merry Christmas Vivian EGAN

Luciacw Report 24 Dec 2003 17:56

Does this census cover Rotherhithe?

Luciacw Report 24 Dec 2003 18:59

Could you search in 33 Clarence Street for anyone with the surname GORBOLD? Thank you for your help Lucia

Luciacw Report 24 Dec 2003 19:49

Can you look in 20 St Pauls Place? I am looking for anyone with the surname GORBOLD or WHITE there. Also 16 Elder Street for any Gorbolds. Thanks for searching Clarence Street Lucia

Luciacw Report 24 Dec 2003 20:02

I think St Pauls Place is in Islington. On the lds site it just said London. Elder Street is in Norton Folgate, I forgot to ask whether that area is included in the search. Lucia

Luciacw Report 24 Dec 2003 20:39

Thanks Lynda, it was worth a try. Lucia

Luciacw Report 24 Dec 2003 22:57

Could you look for some addresses on the census? I have been reading a marriage certificate and i think the addresses are: 10 Newport Farringdon Street. Can you check this for William Gorbold? Combridge House, Blackheath. Can you check this for Matilda Lucas? Thank you for your help Lucia

Luciacw Report 24 Dec 2003 23:30

Thanks for looking, I was wondering if they were living there at the time of the census as this was where they were living at the time of their marriage in 1872. I think Blackheath could be Kent, as matildas' parents were living in Kent in 1881. Merry Christmas Lucia

CelticShiv Report 29 Dec 2003 19:46

Hi Lynda Could you look up 35 Gloucester Street in London for me, to see all names there in 1871. Thanks Siobhan

CelticShiv Report 29 Dec 2003 22:19

sorry Lynda forgot to give that with my post. I believe it is Pimilico. Not far from Victoria Station.

CelticShiv Report 29 Dec 2003 23:03

The main name I was looking for was Sheldon, or any other surnames that may give me some clues. There are no littlejohns there are they. This is an address I have that may be a connection prior to Edwin Littlejohns and Mary Sheldons marriage. Have any of the occupiers got occupations to do with the theatre.

CelticShiv Report 29 Dec 2003 23:29

Hi Lynda Doesn't mean anything at the moment, but will keep a note of it. Cos before a name has mean't nothing and a little lucky guess then helped me to trace back a good hundred years. Can you see if any of the occupations are to do with the theatre. Lynda.....Thanks again.

CelticShiv Report 29 Dec 2003 23:44

Hi Lynda I have just found some of my Sheldon ancesters and two of the girls were Actresses, so I am quite excited.
