My Grandma Hilda (b.1930) can't really remember much about her father because he died when she was about 17/18 yrs old. All she knows is that he was born Blackburn, Lancashire (I'm guessing around 1920 ish) and that his name was Joseph Bradshaw (everyone called him Joe).
My Grandma thinks that she remembers Joseph having two brothers one named Bert, and possibly a sister named Lizzie who lived in Preston in later years.
Joseph Bradshaw married my grandma's mother Florence Ball who was born in shropshire (I guess around the same time as Joseph).
Florence and Joseph had 8 children- Betty, Hilda, Joe, Derek, Peter, Edna, Susan, and June. I'm still in touch with the children that are alive but they dont remember much either.
My Grandma thinks she was born in her father's home town Blackburn although they grew up in Shropshire.
After Joseph died, Florence re-married Martin Leese, so she would have died as Florence Leese. They didnt have any more children as Florence was about 50 by this time.
I'd like to try and find out some more about Joseph and Florence but i cant seem to find any birth, marriage or death records and i feel like i've hit a brick wall now.
If anyone can help me that would be brilliant and very much appreciated!
Thanks everyone,
Hannah

I haven't read all of your post yet, but your grandma's father can't have been born 1920ish if your grandma was born 1930.

I'll carry on reading now.

I'm sure we have worked on this one already?

I have asked if anyone could give me some info before but i dont think the info was correct and i think i may have requested the wrong info last time (if that makes sense?) i think i had a name wrong and places.
Sorry,

Ancestry has just gone off on me, so I can't check anything at the moment. Will try if I get it back.

Oh great, thanks Kath. Does that mean the birth was registered in Sept because my Grandma was actually born in June.

It means that the birth was registered in either July, August or September (it's called the September quarter).

Where did Joseph die?

Hannah

Hannah Report 30 Aug 2007 13:09

Betty was the oldest child, followed by my nana Hilda. I think Betty was maybe one or two years older than my nana, but she died in the past couple of years.
Joseph died at home so that would be in shropshire.

that birth for joseph bradshaw could be the one, that would make him 26 when my nana was born?

Hannah

Hannah Report 30 Aug 2007 13:12

Wellington is Shropshire, not far from where they lived. I think they lived in Oakengates. Also June was the last to be born so that is probably her.
