Well this is getting very strange now. my father was born in 1942. The Jean I have with parents of Sloper and Livermore was born in 1934. So perhaps that is a red herring.
I am just sat on the edge of my seat waiting for Jean Pothecary to respond to my email and explain what connection we have with four members of the same family being listed in both of our trees.
I have also emailed her at the history society that Selina found for me.

GUESS WHAT????
I have just spoken with Jean on the phone. I cant beleive it. Thankyou Rose for the phone number.
Now dont get to excited jean is not my fathers cousin but she is related to him.
They both share the same great great grandfather. I think they are about forth cousins. She dosnt know anything personaly about my fathers family but she does know a great deal about the Slopers in general. Most of them were gardeners and all lived around the Kent and Surrey areas. my dad has a great love of gardening.She is going to send me a detailed family tree tomorrow.
Now this I find spooky.She was born in 1942 the same year as my father. The month of August the same as my father.he was born on the 15th and jean the 31st which is my daughters birthday. Her street name is brookside and my fathers old address was brookside.
She was a wonderful woman to talk to and would love my father to call her. She can give him the background information on his history.

I see I have alot more information to look into now.Oh and by the way Constance is indeed Junes mother.

I am still determioned to find out if my father had brothers or sisters.I cant beleive that he was the only child. Tomorrow I will be ordering the birth certificates for Judith and Jean. I cant understand why apart from their registrations of birth there is no further information on them.Even if they are nothing to do with my father I feel they must have been adopted. Any ideas on how I go about finding this out?
It is a great feeling being able to give my father for the first time in his life some real family history. I am hoping now to find some possible relitives still alive.

Doesnt it seem very very strange that all the possible siblings found have no further information apart from their births and all girls too.
Do you think the birth certificates would tell us much if I did purchase them?

As of yet I have no address for where my father lived.All he knows is that he was born in Harrow.We are still waiting for his fall birth certificate to turn up.It hasnt arrived yet I think due to the postal strike.Hopefully there will be an address on there.thankyou for the offer and I will keep you posted.

URGENT!!!

I have just received my fathers birth certificate.
it says Certified copy of an entry of birth.
it has the address where born,name of child,mothers name,residence,when registered,the name and ocupation of father has been left blank.

Is this a full copy of my fathers certificate or just an entry of birth? I am really confused on this one.

So, Dorothea Livermore married Mr Sloper. Had Richard Charles in 1942. Then Dorothea Sloper (nee Livermore) married Mr Knight.
Why wasn't Mr Sloper's name on the birth cert for Richard Charles ?

so by not naming Herbert Sloper as the father seems she may have your dad by a different guy.
