True actually, isn't that? I tend to see nuances in the questions and think: well, if he said X, even though I said Y, it might make sense.

But actually, I realized years ago when I started with the online matchmaking lark that (and I'm talking over 15 years ago!) that I had to just be straight with myself. I'd look at a profile and think: He'd be perfect except for ___. And the ___ actually made him not just not perfect, but yucky.

(The big one is the ones in their 50s looking for women in their 40s and/or 30s. Gimme a great big yeeeeccch. Eharmony actually had preset search criteria when it started that automatically matched men with younger women and women with older men.)

So you're working on getting over yourself, I see. This is good.

I don't cook, Janey, or plate meatloaf, whatever that is.

'imself is well used to my demanding ways, he was warned by both my parents before we trotted down the aisle.

He promised not to get bald or fat and so far so good. Is it discriminating to exclude a physical type you find a turn off?

I wouldn't want to be matched with a fascist either, is that discriminating?

OOOOOOO

Oh Gwynne, I hope you are good in the plating up meatloaf department, ....are you asking if Gwynneth if she is agood cook? Or she always serves Mr G the biggest portion or is code *winks*

Yours Heavy Boned ( according to my Mother) of Chshire ..

We must all applaud Hayley for her marvellous demonstration of What Men Do Not Want in their wimmin. Hip hip!

Drama, in case she's confused you.

Fat, too. But there are enough fat chicks around here already. We needed some drama to remind us that merely being not-fat will not get us the dates we want.

The difference being: Hayley will get a first date. She'll probably blow it, but she's still a step ahead.

All you fat chicks, eat your heart out.

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 14 Jul 2010 21:31

Now I'm even more confused. Is it not cooking then?

Why would Hayley get a first date and not me. *stamps*

*worries crossed brown eyes*

JaneyCanuck Report 14 Jul 2010 21:31

Gwynne, I am merely telling it like it is.

I have been advised by an authority -- a girl who has got herself a guy -- that it is only right and proper, or fit and meet, or whatever, that he open her doors, push her chair around, and pay for whatever morsels she wishes to consume when they are out and about.

In return, she makes and plates up his meals.

I thought he might feel a little pre-teen at that, until I remembered I do it too. But that's for pragmatic purposes; I cook precisely for two, and I count the carbs. He then cleans up whatever mess I felt like making. I suspect that Ms. Plating Up's guy doesn't do that.

I think we should accept her word as authority on this, though. Equality demands that he pay and she serve.

Remember this.

ooh now that's interesting ...the ones I am matched with...the first one is 6ft 2" is good with money and loves cooking LOL

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 14 Jul 2010 21:33

Hayley is not a fat chick. Or so she says.

You have not addressed the subject, Gwynne.

The only obvious conclusion to be drawn is that you are a fat chick.

Not paying attention, are you?

Get over yourself!

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 14 Jul 2010 21:33

ROSE!!!

What are you telling me, you filled out the thing and you got a match????

Okay, lemme go check mine ...

Rambling

Rambling Report 14 Jul 2010 21:38

loads of matches Janey lol...well 7 anyway...and have to say two of those I have looked at details of so far sound reasonable ... and they're all tall lol

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 14 Jul 2010 21:39

Okay. I got one in April 2008. That was actually a year after I signed up.

Then I got one in January 2009.

Then things heated up -- I believe they relaxed their matching criteria, actually.

I got one in September 2009. This one is a lawyer in a small town in Ontario that happens to be the town where I articled for three months, until I got banned. Well, they called it "fired". He also happens to be the one lawyer I can't identify for the life of me. Although it came to me the other day so I should have another look. Guess he's not married anymore.

Anyhow, another one in September 2009, a couple (not a couple, two) in December 2009, and a whole load more in Feb Mar Apr May 2009. -- Oh: 28 altogether.

Theyre in NSW, Montana, BC, the UK, France, the Netherlands, California ... an exotic crew.

But obviously men of good taste. ;)

Oh, and I've also had two "friends" requests at the discussion boards since I joined. You know. This time. Both women. ;)

Silly Sausage

Silly Sausage Report 14 Jul 2010 21:40

Because my dear Gwyneth not only am I eye catching but I create attention...........after 10 mins people get bored with it ....hence why I never get the second date am I right Janey?

I am good with a lassoo thats how I got Itsmytelly :)))

Now I am not interesting in younger men remember I am only 17 yrs older than my eldest son so dating younger men I would find creepy..... I like fat bald men doesnt mean they dont have a personality, AND I like to be courted and treated likea Princess I am....

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 14 Jul 2010 21:42

Well your imperialness, I can only dish out the same advice:

You deserve to be courted and treated like a princess. Just be sure you serve those plates proper like.

You won't have to get over yourself, as long as you remember that.

Rambling

Rambling Report 14 Jul 2010 21:43

They all cook! lol

Silly Sausage Report 14 Jul 2010 21:44

I think Gwytnneth is very picky .....

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 14 Jul 2010 21:44

Rose Rose Rose -- have you lost my email address again yet?

Copy and paste me a couple of your favourites. I want to see what kinda menz is actually on the menu there! I don't think seeing only the ones that meet my stringent standards gives me an accurate picture. ;)

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 14 Jul 2010 21:45

Indeed, Hayley, Gwynne is very overly picky. She is in dire need of getting over herself.

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 14 Jul 2010 21:47

Hmm.

I'd rather be single than learn how to cook. Or date fat bald men.

I haven't even begun on the rest of my criteria.

I think I'll stick with the current Mr G for a while longer.

What wimmin want in men is far more important than what men want in wimmin. We'll tell them what they want.

Simples.

*somewhat less worried brown eyes*

Silly Sausage Report 14 Jul 2010 21:47

Yeah .....Gwynneth get over yourself ...drama queen **sniggers**
