Hi Mike,

Tks so much for that info.

Interesting spelling of surname, although logical.

Re Mary..
After buying the death cert for Thomas (d..1886) I found that he had died at an address in Charles St Margaret Lei with a A Smith in attendence. In the 1881 census Thomas and Mary Ann were living in Charles Street as well, down the road.. I did a 1881 census search on the address and found a famly of Smiths living in this house.. I researched this Smith family and found they came from Coventry . I know that in all the census Mary Ann Noon states she is from Lei, but it seems strange..search is still ongoing.... just info for you.

Once again many tks.. this info is a gold mind.
Cheers
Karen.

ps...keep up the good work, your help is invaluable to people like me from 'Down Under'

With ref to Mary with a very popular surname
It’s very difficult to say for sure we have the right one

Because Eliza was born in Market Harborough 1840.
I just have this feeling that Mary went home to her Mother's to have the child ?
I see that on 1841. Census it stated Mary was born within the County of Leicestershire
On the 1851. Mary is down as Not Known place of birth
1861 onwards it has Mary as born Leicester.

Or was the birth early and Thomas & Mary was on their way home back to Leicester from Northamptonshire where Thomas had bought some leather for his Boot & Shoe business ?

Hello again Mike,

I don't know whether you can help me with this one.........

I have a Mary Wright who was baptised in Croft on 11/02/1820. She was the illegitimate daughter of an Elizabeth Wright.

Do you have any records of a marriage after 1820 for an Elizabeth Wright around Croft? I know it's a bit vague, but any help or advice would be great. Mary Wright later moved to Stoney Stanton and married a Matthew Tansey in 1841.

Thanks again for any help,

Vicky X

re:Thoms Noon

Hi Mike,

I contacted you about a week or so ago about Thomas Noon and Mary Ann Smith. Pretty sure I now have their marriage of 1835 in All Saints Lei and a birt cert of daughter Eliza in 1840 at Harbourer. Just need more info on Thomas and Mary ann, eg parents and birth places, dates. if possible . They were bootmakers or cordwainers thru out their lives.
You kindly passed on the burial info.

Waiting with bated breath...

Cheers
Karen of Brisbane

Graveyard is not that big but it’s compacted

Plus I did hear that they had done what a lot of Churches are doing
That is they take up the Headstones and place them along the outer walls of the Church. So you may not find the finial resting place……:0(((

Best get in touch with the Church they might hold Graveyard plans

Greeting’s again Marion…..

I understand the need to cut down on expenses
Therefore why not order just the Marriage Certificate for James & Doris
At lest this will give you the Father’s names of both parties…
and save sticking a pin in the names which are displayed on the 1901.Census.......and guessing . :0/

Hi mike.
I am sorry this is the thing I am unable to find out. I go into fmp for info this does not yet have 1901.
I went through quite a lot Friday and some at weekend. the truslove seem connected to Kirby, Fisher,Dyer,Ballard, and couple I found name of Orme. These were all Maiden names.
My son in law was born late in his parents lives so knows bvery little of relations His Mum is 82 so possiby would not remember. It`s a tricky one with an only child.the only thing now would be certificates which are expensive, as I bought a lot family for my own. also the Lightfoot family. Iwill ask further to see if I can get more info

This is a further bit of info, re my Chelsea Pensioner.
My son in law said, my relative would have bought his comission, as very few if any, at that time, went through the ranks. He himself has just finished 23 years in forces. Bye Marian

Greeting’s….. Marian.

In order for me to attempt to go back in time with the Astley /Truslove Families

I will need the CHRISTIAN names for both Parents of James & Doris May.
( if you already know James was an only child then I believe you might have the names ? )

There are several of these Families dotted about both in the City & County on the 1901. Census returns.

Hi Mike.
I have what maybe a puzzle.

My son in laws Grandparents were,
James Astley and Doris May nee Truslove.
I found birth of James in 1901
Doris May in 1902. 7a163 J/A/S 1902
I have found their marriage in 1923.
James was an only Child, He and Doris only had one son Dennis Hardwicke Astley.

I have done a bit of research to try and trace the latter name of Hardwicke.
I found in the Truslove Births a Harold Hardwick without the E in 1903.

Is it possible for you to find out more for me on this family I have tried looking for gr gr parents ect in 1841/1891. I do not know how to look further without detail, can you help thanks Marian
