George Henry Smith b1847 Wiltshire, married Frances Lester but left her I think after 1881 but don''t where he went to?

MrsBucketBouquet Report 1 Jun 2008 18:51

How about this for an idea? (born just before the marriage??)
I see that the Marriage was 1956 quarter 4 too..

Adrian J. Skipper
1956 Q4
Mothers maiden name 'Skipper'
Volume 4b
Page 971

The district Wayland is in the county of Norfolk

Gerri x

I have also checked the full birth index for the years...1956/7/8/9 and 1960 'Aldous' with MMN 'Skipper'...
nothing yet...

Maybe the Marriage diddnt work out?

Possibly Susan,thankyou
Could you tell me what year this was. I just have no idea where he went after 1881!

MrsBucketBouquet Report 1 Jun 2008 19:23

That 1891 census Susan found he is a widower and his occupation is Carpenter so prob not your man.

Your man was a blacksmith.

MrsBucketBouquet Report 1 Jun 2008 19:26

Have you traced Frances after 1881?

Sara Report 1 Jun 2008 19:27

Yes thankyou Gerri
Its after 1881 that I lose him and being quite new to this I get a bit confused!!!

Sara Report 1 Jun 2008 19:29

Gerri,I have Frances and family but George was apparently he was a bit of a ladies man and left Frances!

MrsBucketBouquet Report 1 Jun 2008 19:31

If you found Frances...was she listed as widow or still married?

Dont worry if you dont know...i can look for you if you tell me where she was in 1891.

When was the last child born?

Sara Report 1 Jun 2008 19:48

Thankyou for your offer of help Gerri.
ok, in 1891 I have Frances in Aldingbourne, W, Sussex. Don't know if married or widowed. Kids are Frederick Lester(from 1st marriage), Nelson Smith1883 and Frederica Ellen M Smith 1884, both Nelson and Frederica born Westhampnett.

MrsBucketBouquet Report 1 Jun 2008 20:19

Sorry Sara...had to do my Nanny Taxi bit....ggrrr lol

Found them on the 1891 and she is listed as Married.
The kids are a bit muddled up (mistranscribed) but looks like the youngest was born c1885. So George must have been around in 1884 ish.

Trouble is theres loads of George Henrys born around that time and place! as i suspect you already know!....and having the surname of 'Smith'....,,,Need i say more!

I really dont know what to advice you on!...sorry Sara.

Leave the thread on here and check back every now n then...Maybe someone else will take a look for you...

Gerri x

Margaret Report 1 Jun 2008 23:40

Hi Gerri
Could you look for Albert Charles Webster b1898 Aldershot.
I have his marriage certificate to Ellen Jones b 1900 in 1926 on that his father is given as Albert Webster deceased,a licenced victullar, would like to find out as much as is possible about him.
Thank you Margaret

ChristineinPortugal Report 2 Jun 2008 07:42

Do you know approx when Francis and Christina married?, I can't find a marriage on Free BMD.

The marriage cert would give you their father's names and occupations and help to trace them in 1901 as the only Francis born around that time was in Devon.

This could be Christina in 1891
