Hi Wendy..one ot two bits og confirmation for you.

Eliza Callow.nee Aaron 1857-1898..died Salford 4th quarter 1898.....
She may have been taken to Chester for burial..but i have no evidence of that....although i can now confirm she WAS born Chester..Herv dad was some kind of benfit Society agent...and obviously moved around a bit...for instance frederich brother of Eliza was born in Manchester..although they moved to Salford..pretty much all in the same area i think..

Right.going back to Eliza Aaron, her parents..you can add a bit to your tree....John Aaron 1824-1889
married Sarah.not yet got her name.(1827-1889)
Their children were Eliza (probably actually born 1854 becasue her death entry 1898 shows her aged 44)
Ann 1859
Thomas 1857
William J 1861..all confirmed

and Richard Aaron b1868..he married a girl called mary and had a child Wilfred Aaron 1898.

hope you're enjoying this!!
I think i'll investigate the Holme bit next!!

You deserve a HUGE pat on the back, it's incredible.
I could never have found any of that information, you are a petal.I shall put that on my tree now.
So many thank you.s I do not know where to start.
And as for Holme, It would be marvelous, I have been at a complete standstill for ages with that. not knowing where to turn next.
I still can not believe the info you have found though.
All I can say is Bless you. & bless you again.

Hi Derek

I have a Blanche Joyce b 1893 in Glossop,Derbys.

She is a visitor in 1901 with the Collins family mis transcribed as Callins in Barnsley.

I could do with finding out her parents if possible ,if you have a baptism for her .

Thanks
Simon

Hello again Simon....unfortunately you're right at the end of transcripted parish records time-wise......the only option you have is the actual certificate....

Sorry.. derek

SimonSez Report 22 Nov 2008 19:29

Thanks very much any way Derek. I thought she may be a little late to be in any parish records, but just thought I'd ask in case she was there before getting a certificate.

Hi Wendy..I have checked your tree.with regard to the HOLME connection.....looks pretty accurate to me.....not much I can addd unless you want to know about marriages and children that are on the tree but which you haven't developed........

Hello Derek
I know you are terribly busy with others, but I couldn't resist asking.

Would it be possible to find any information on a marriage around 1820 (give or take a couple of years- their first child is born 1824) of a Thomas Alton, he married a woman called Rebecca, in the South Wingfield area of Derbyshire.

The IGI has a submitted record in 1818 and gives Rebecca's name as Slater. I have learnt my lesson with submitted records, but would love to find out if Rebecca's name was Slater.

Any info would be very much appreciated

Many Thanks in advance

Hi Derek, You asked me to let you know how I got on........

Re. Frederick Thomas Strong furniss Marriage cert. update................

I have received today the marriage cert. of the above to Mary Tossell in July 1843 in Birmingham, his occupation is a plumber, AND the father is John Furniss, which is what i was hoping for, fathers proffesion is down as Traveller, and I was really looking for Commercial Traveller but think this is still pretty conclusive that he is part of my Furniss clan, I have also found on the IGI baptism of Jane july 1844 in Kirkdale Lancs parents Faederick{Frederick} and Mary furniss, Mary is 6 in the 1851 census so everything ties in, and Marys birthplace throughout the census is given as Liverpool, West derby or Everton, all of which could be covered by Kirkdale.

The marriage cert. still dosn`t list the middle names Thomas Strong, but am pretty sure he is my man, would just be great if I could locate his baptism 1818 in Derby, I have all his siblings on the IGI, but not him.

Hello Spiral...I have what you need...and on this` occasion IGI is correct....almost...!!

Thomas Alton married Rebecca Slater 15.09.1819..and fo a very good reason cos Rebecca was very pregnant indeed!! Witnesses were david Slater x his mark..and Mary newton x her mark.

Children of Thomas and Rebecca:
Hannah bapt. 24.10.1819
Mary bapt. 10.09.1822
Elizabeth bapt.18.09.1825
John bapt 14.10.1825 buried 14.10. 1828
William bapt.01.12.1833
George bapt 13.12.1835 buried 04.01.1836
James bapt 31.03.1843

Elizabeth (1825) married William Wilkinson 03.06.1855

William (1833) married Sarah Shipley 03.10.1854
and she was also pregnant (no telly inb those days!) and they had a son John William Alton bapt 03.06.1855

This is all completley accurate from the Parish records.....

anything else you need, let me know

Hello Derek
Thank you so much for all the help you have given me, and I can see you are busy.

Hi Wendy....on` the 1881 Census we have Ruth Ann Roberts(widow) and nine children.....the last of which was born 1876....in America!!
In fact Helena 1869. Mary hanna 1871. Catherine 1874 and Emma 1876 were all born in America.
So Ruth Ann Roberts does not appear on census records until 1881.
There are four children as you say born between 1859 and 1866..and becasue she was in America before 1871, the only census they would appear on is 1861..and they don't, at least not yet!
Ruth was born 1839 "Mortsworth"..which does not exist and is clearly a mistranscription..probably of Wirksworth.
It seems fairly clear that Roberts
is her married name, and her husband died after 1876 either in America or on the way back or shortly thereafter..certainly before 1881

Her marriage prior to 1859?? might have been in the derby area....and I have no idea of how to find it..

I'll press on with this for you for a while..you have any other ideas??

Hi Derek thanks for replying, you have put Ruth Barker in your reply I hope this was an error as it is Ruth Roberts.

I have what I think is Ruth in 1861 living with Joseph and Ruth Hack in Derby. Joseph born 1803 and Ruth 1803. Joseph in Middleton and Ruth in Bakewell. It states Ruth born 1837 is married but no husband is with her on 1861.

I dont have access to 1851 so have not tried to find Ruth on there.

Someone has found Ruth and the family in USA for me in 1870 and Ruth's husband is Robert Roberts. Having said that some of the children born in USA do not appear on the cenus in 1871 with Ruth and Robert!!

I'm already grey but by the time I have sorted them out I will have torn out all my hair i think.

In anticipation that you find something else for me.

Wendy

dodsy Report 23 Nov 2008 16:43

Just found the marriage between Ruth Slack and Robert Roberts in Merthyr Tydfill in 1860 so the transciption in the 1861 census should be Slack and not Hack, two garndchildren are Slack which was what gave me the clue.

Derek

Sorry for not responding sooner- husband wanted to go christmas shopping, so took the opportunity when it was offered!

Well............. I laughed my head of at your remarks!, very pregnant indeed!!!!!!!!!, she was damn lucky she didn't have the baby at the altar during the service by the sounds of it- it would have saved coming back a few weeks later for the baptism.

I can't thank you enough for that, not only have you provided me with more information than I actually expected, but given me a good laugh to boot.

Your a marvellous man Derek, keep up the good work!

Many many thanks

I know Derek, it doesn't make sense they are driving me round the bend. Her husband was born in Wales according to the 1871 USA census. Think I will leave them be for now Derek as it is getting so complicated.
