Greeting’s…….How are you keeping then...?

You’ll never know how close you came to buying me that lunch this week-end…..
I had in my mind to pop over to Mablethorpe this week-end
And surprise you on my way back……
But it fell through……at the last moment……

Mike. The Leicester Lad.(GC) Report 1 Aug 2009 21:44

Greeting’s Again. …Sylvia.

I need to check these out at the Records Office

There appears to be a discrepancy regards Williams surname

Either :~
or William Ingle – Hearn.

Who Married Sarah Eagle
21st. December. 1801.

St: Peter & St: Paul’s Parish Church.
Bowden Magna.
By Banns.

I’ll get back to you A.S.A.P. this week

Sylvia Report 2 Aug 2009 08:18

Thank you Mike, according to my contact the Ingle was added back to make Inglhearn about 1871.

The Mary Hearn c1803 i`m looking for, had Ingley/Ingle? as a middle name on one of her sons birth certs and the informant on her death cert was a John Inglehearn from 9 Bay Street Leicester, so i am hopeing she belongs somehow to this family or its back to the drawing board

Thanks again

Hi all
Unfortunately my old pc has given up and I have been forced to get a new one - without all the saved websites and history! I was wondering if anyone can point me back to the website that allows you to search for (I think) poor records, convicts and soldiers of Leicestershire. I am sure I didn't dream this site up but cannot find it anywhere.
Also, I have found out one of my lovely ancestors was acquitted of murder in 1833, does anyone know where I would be able to find any more info?
Many thanks, Sarah

Lorraine Report 4 Aug 2009 13:55

criminal records are now on ancestry as far as i know its a free trial at the moment

England & Wales, Criminal Registers, 1791-1892 - Free Index

sarahjw03 Report 4 Aug 2009 18:03

Thanks Lorraine!
I have the info from ancestry, so if anyone knows where to go next, I would appreciate it!
I have now also got the website I was after - thanks!

Thats brilliant, thank you so much Mike,

You found a couple of baptisms for children of John and Mary Gough nee Hearn a few months back, children born and died between census, i sent for their birth certs and thats where i found the Ingle Hearn name. Plus Joseph Hearn and his wife were witnesses to John and Mary`s marriage.

Thank you again

Cindi Report 12 Aug 2009 19:48

Mike: You may remember doing lookups for me in 2006 for the Charlesworth family (don't groan!)
Could I prevail upon your expertise and kindness again to see if you could find the father of John Charlesworth baptized 17.4.1754 in Ashby de la Zouch (m Catherine Twells 28 Feb 1780 in Castle Donington). I know this is a longshot because it was sooooooo long ago, but - then again - I know you work miracles!
Many thanks

Your answer is……..

Remembering that only the Fathers Name was given in those days.

So the register would go along these lines …..

St: Helen's Parish Church.
Ashby de la Zouch.

John. Son of Thomas Charlesworth….Bapt. 14th. April.

Cindi Report 14 Aug 2009 17:15

Thank you so much Mike. So how would I find which Thomas Charlesworth is John's dad, if no wife's name was given? Or do I just look for a Thomas in Ashby of the approximate right age? I think there were a few Charlesworths in Ashby!!!
I'll be struggling to get back any further....would a visit to Ashby help do you think?
Again, many many thanks
