another nudge

I have also been using family search and found it rather long winded, although the info eventually surfaces.
I just wish that the Scots Origins site was still intact. I found this so easy to use.

Submitted Entries.
I am always dubious about these, but never discount them.
Where I can, I use the info and try to find the evidence for myself.
I have found many instances where, especially with early Scottish births, a father's name only was provided on the parish record.
Often, both the extracted and submitted entries are available.

Submitted entries often added a mother (and occasionally the parents marriage ) for the child.
In my experience, this is where many of the the inaccuracies occur.

My family lived in Lanarkshire and was the only family of their surname in the parish.
4 sons, all married, and all had sons of the same names
It is the marriages , subsequent births ect relating to this second generation who have been confused with each other on submitted entries.

I accept that ultmitely, they do all share the same paternal grandparents, but it means that researchers are unaware that they may be looking at incorrect maternal lines

Samuel Galway Irvine my Grand Father was born 1874


In the1911 Census Francis is listed as being 72 and a labourer,unless Ive made a mistake.

Of course patchem,

My Father Samuel Galway Irvine,was born 15/10/19/1918
He was the youngest son of Samuel Galway Irvine sr and Sarah Irvine nee McLarnon.
Father had an older sister named Rose and a brother also named Samuel who died as a child.

Samuel sr was the son of Francis and Rosana Irvine.
My Father was born in Osborne Street,Belfast,Northern Ireland in the Duncairn Ward.

Francis either shared his home or vice verca.I know he lived in the same street.

Samuel sr was a dock labourer.
Francis was also a labourer.

Could you post your grandparent's details, and someone can have a look also?

Ive used the correct spelling of my Grand Parent on this site to find their death/burial dates,without succes.
