Could anyone please let me know if they can find the names of these children anywhere in this establishment

The Childrens mother died 1884 while her husband was away
with the Royal Artillery

I am hoping to find Michael b (1878) Moville Donegal

Robert c (1879/80) Moville Donegal

also two more born c 1881/84 (maybe England)

Daisy and Joseph all had the surname McLoughlin,

have googled but no luck

I will check back later on,

The 2 boys Michael and Robert both joined the Royal Artillery
and are both serving overseas in the 1911 census

Would love to find some info on their early years

This is the site you want. You can write to the school and get the school reports on who you are tracing.

Thank you for your help

Ray...I have the list but dont have a surname to cross check...or is it McLoughlin ?..You wont find "Daisy" there as the RHMS was an all male establishment

Ray...
Check out 1911 Census Dublin...
There's a Daisy McLoughlin listed as a Pupil aged 20 at the Female Orphans School Circular Road Glasnevin....
Scroll down to bottom of the list....

Hi Eringobragh 1916

Thank you for your help, I will have a look ,
that could well be her, I do not know where
Daisy and Joseph were born ?
I found her on a passenger list for 1929
southampton to south Africa,,, she did go to South Africa
so did Joseph but not sure when ?
1929 says she is 44 estimated YOB 1884

Her mother died in 1884 so the South Africa one seems good
her and Joseph may of been born in Gibralter as thats where her
father was for 5 years up to and including 1884

Sorry its a right mess I know

I beleive I have found young Daisy in the 1891 census
aged 6 living at Nazareth house Portsmouth

A charitable home for old people and young children

it states that she was born in Portsmouth, I still can not find
young Joseph perhaps he is with his brothers at the military school ?

Eringobragh1916 Report 28 Mar 2010 18:52

Ray...I forgot to list the McLoughins for the RHMS..as you can see only one Michael..The Reg listed is the "Fathers" and the date is the day the Child enrolled in the RHMS

McLOUGHLIN Martin Lancers 9th
McLOUGHLIN Michael 13/10/1855 11 Dragoon Guards 6th Army Volunteer 16th Regt of Foot 04/08/1859
McLOUGHLIN Michael York & Lancs Regt Army Volunteer Yorkshire Light Infa 18/10/1905.

There is a Birth reg for a Daisy Mary 1884 Portsea Hamps. 2b 507
Also a Joseph "a" reg.Dec 1885. 2b 484
Have you checked the 1881 Census for the Portsmouth area...there are 2 McLoughlin families listed.
What was the mothers name and where did she die...
Nazareth House was a RC Orphanage...

Thanks Eringobragh 1916

I found Daisy Mary Portsea last night so that must be her
in 1929 enroute to S/A

The Mother was Mary McLoughlin nee Gonagle, I found a death
for 4th qtr 1884 Whitrchapel which sounds right if they were still
living in Woolwich

so unless Joseph was registered 6 months later in 1885
it can not be him ?

If you have the chelsea pensioners list on FMP

Have a look for Martin Mcloughlin, b 1848 St Nicholls Galway
maybe you can decipher some of the script ?

Many thanks

1881 census

Martin, Mary, Michael & Robert are listed under the real surname

Mc Laughlin and not Mc Loughlin Martin changed the surname slightly
after fleeing Ireland where he was due to hang for horse stealing

The family are living at 26 frances street Woolwich

The descrepency of Martins DOB 1851 instead of 1848 is probably
to mask his tracks ? well I did say it was a mystery.

Welcome to the boards John

It might be best if you were to start a new thread of your own rather than tag on to this old one. A thread with only a few answers is likely to get more views (and possible assistance) than one with many.

Its unlikely that anyone on GR has 'any information' about your relative, although we might be able to suggest avenues for you to follow. These would have been found from an internet search. It's a pity that the link posted by Barbara on 27 Mar 2010 @ 17:16 no longer works.
