Jan,
Florence's mom, Louisa, is the older sister of my Gr Grandmother , Gladys Smith Peterson, who was born in Guernsey, Channel Islands in 1895. I'd love to hear from you and learn more about the family.

Thanks for the advise.
I've drawn a small tree up and made an elderly lady very happy and a few more people added to my tree.

Kind regards

That's very good news Jan.jan.

They may not have married, they may have married in the Channel Islands as per the family rumour or it may also be that Mrs Grumpy is right and that Louisa had been married before.

Good luck with your search!

Hello everybody.

I've just phoned the living relative and she confirmed that her grandmother was Louisa, so the couple on the 1911 are the people that I've been searching for.
I'll look for a marriage but perhaps they didn't bother.

I can now link William back to 1710, so what a result and all thanks to your help
Kind regards

If you were to purchase Florence's birth cert it would confirm mum's name and marital status - ie if previously married. That might help a bit.

It's possible also that Louisa was maybe a middle name which she used on censuses etc but not on her marriage cert?

I know she's very young on the 1911 (if that's the right family) but could she have been married before maybe?

Found this marriage in 1912 - maybe having to wait for a divorce?

Well, the Louisa on the 1911 with William was born in Butt Lane, Staffs, the children have the mothers maiden name Burndred and the Louisa Burndred from the 1891 and 1901 was born in Butt Lane, Staffs - seems like a match to me!!

Hello Ladies

Thanks for all your efforts. It is appreciated.
I can tie in the William on the 1911 to my tree as a definite but am unsure of Louisa.
William is supposed to have died in Stone, Somerset in his late 70-80's, so I'll check through all the Ancestry deaths to see if one matches.

I'll also contact JerseyLily for advise

Many thanks

The original says they have been married under 1 year, although wife was born in Staffordshire not Channel Islands. That's not to say they didn't marry there though.

Can't see a corresponding marriage for this couple.

I believe jerseylily is pretty good at finding out Channel Islands related stuff and may be able to help - perhaps you could send her a message?

I've got a Florence Caines who was born Dec qtr 1911 Dorchester and her Mum's maiden name was Burndred.
A living relative told me that the Mum came from the Channel Islands.
I've searched for a marriage between William Caines and Burndred and there isn't one, so I'm assuming they married in the Channel Islands.

Can anybody give me any guidance as to how I would go about checking it?

Thanks

Jan
