Hello Mike,

Re Sykes, yes they could well have been non conformists, as I have not found any baptisms for Joseph's 2 children, they were born in West Bromwich, I did a search there myself with no luck.

Just a quick whiz round my database…..

NO record for Mary’s Baptism found in Coleorton.

But there was three Bonser families in Coleorton around that time…….

The only thing I can confirm for the moment is the following :~

1804.
Coleorton Parish Church.
MARRIAGE :~

Samuel COPSON ~ Mary BONSER.
9th. July.
By Banns.

With the following children :~

1806. John. ……..Bapt. ...6th. January.
1808. Richard. .... Bapt. .30th. October.
1815. Susanna…..Bapt. .23rd. April.
1816. Jane. ……...Bapt. …1st December.
1818. Ann. ……….Bapt. .19th. July.

I’ll have a look at the records Office next time I’m there
To see if I can see Mary’s & Siblings Baptisms.

Unless they were Baptised as…..” NONCONFORMIST’S ? “

Then that might be a bit more difficult to prove ..

Records wise. ….Records Office hold only limited Nonconformist records…

Thanks Mike, so they appear not to have been baptised, so maybe this is why no records of any children for Benjamins 1st marriage.

Your help is appreciated

Many thank again for info on burials this is most helpful, now for next request,

Benjamin & Jane appear to have been living in Wigston Magna 1841 & 1851
with John Sykes b 1835 Shepshed & Joseph b 1837 Shepshed plus a Fredrick Platts b 1829 Coleorton, name given as Sykes in 1841, I believe this was maybe Janes son, is there any info re these births,

Thanks in anticipation

Greeting’s Again……..

I’ve had a good in depth look at this…….

But Benjamin & Jane only appear on the 61 & 71 census returns. ….

I could not see any Children of the Sarah & Benjamin marriage
Exploring ALL the know avenues.

The only extra details I came up with is

Benjamin was stated as a Widower on the second marriage
And from the Parish of Shepshed.
and this was 9th. December 1833. By Banns NOT 1822.

Not sure if have given you the burial details ?

St Bardoph Parish Church.
Shepshed.

1833.
Burial register Entry No’. 1318.

Sarah Sykes.
Abode. ..Shepshed.
14th. April.
Aged. …50.

1871.
Register Entry No’. 2177.
Benjamin Sykes.
Abode. ….Shepshed.
4th. October.
Aged. …92.

1872.
Register Entry No’. 2200.

Jane Sykes.
Abode. …Shepshed.
21st. January.
Aged. 80. .

So both Benjamin & Jane would be in their mid 40’s
When they got married
so it’s most unlikely to have any more other than the two children. you have found. ...

Hope this helps ?

Having looked that Census returns for years 41,51,61…..

I’m sure Abraham was the Son of John & Ann
BAGLEY / BAGBLY. / BUGBY./ .

Surname had been transcribed different in each year but details were the same.

Hi Mike

That comment made me lol ,i thought this thread wasn't going anymore,i am glad Jan asked her question,.I hope you are well Mike and are ready for a question that you helped me with before about Bagleys from Wing in Rutland ,you found the parents of Thomas who were Joseph and Martha, whilst doing this tree i have since found another line linking the Bagleys back to Wing through a Abraham Bagley he seems to be 3 years younger than my Thomas on the 1841 census but neither are living with parents, and i cannot find parents for Abraham would you be able to work your magic please, as if they are not brothers i am sure they are cousins, Thank you Donna
