Again, Thank you to every one who have given me great ideas to try.
Once I have sorted my tree out I will get down to printing the bit the family want. I have just found a mistake so am having to back track, again with help from the great community of GR.

Neil - thank you for pointing out the facility for Ancestors and Descendants of which I was not aware. I've used this facililty in my PAF tree (where I can in fact print it out rather more compactly) but this is worth knowing - did a trial run for one corner of descendants!

Another option which I have not seen mentioned recently for printing parts of a GR tree, is to highlight an individual on the full tree, then click on 'Ancestors' or 'Descendants'. Either of these will show the direct line leading to or from the selected individual, but will not include siblings or children . You can then print off a copy of this shortened tree by the same method you would use for a full tree.
This often gives enough information for others who are not really interested in genealogy, but curious about immediate family. This will also not cost you any more than you are already paying for GR (if anything)

Thank you to all of you who have replied to help me with this problem. I am going to try IreneinSpain suggestion and see if I can do it as a Gedcom with someone to print it. It may be expensive but I will only need to do it once.

I've just had a play around with some trees on here, and if the tree is up to about 500 people you can "preview" it, and one I've just previewed (496) would take 78 pages to print in a readable font - though the number of pages depends on how many generations you've got, numbers of siblings etc.

By the time you've stuck them together you've got a tree that you could just about carpet the living room floor with.

I might be wrong but there doesn't seem to be an option to print just the main line (without the siblings), which would take up a lot less space.

Even the free tree from familysearch will let you do that, which you could back up with a report on each generation, giving siblings and other information. It would still make a sizeable package though, but would be more manageable.

You can also buy various charts from Family History suppliers which you can either write on or print off labels and stick them on, but again they would only hold the main line, and only a few generations.

Thank you Eddie, I did hope that there would be a programme or something that I could use to get the tree off in a more favourable format. I have going on 1000 names so it will take a lot of A4 sheets.

If you open your tree there is a print option on the right hand side. You have to have your tree on "Full tree" though, not immediate family.
I think the GR tree is a bit too crude and basic to allow you to print only small "family" sections of your tree so you will need to print out the whole thing. This could be dozens and dozens of A4 sheets.

Could anyone tell me please how to print out the information I have accumulated on my family tree on genesreunited.
I want to send copies to my family who do not have computers.
