Hi Newbie here, Am I on the correct track with this ancestor.
Marriage Certificate , St Andrews church Fulham,
2nd June 1884. marries Richard Stanley age 25. Matilda Miller is down as age 23, father James Miller is a printer.

On some of the census she is down as born in Merton on some Wandsworth. The 1891 census is the correct lady.

I ordered this birth certificate .
Birth Certificate, Croyden Mitcham Surrey.
22nd May 1864, address is Nelsons field Merton .
father is James Miller lab at copper works.
mother is Sarah Mary Ann Caroline Maidman

I have found two marrriages for a James Miller to a
Sarah Mary Ann Caroline Maidman.
One is in dec 1850 E,London and the other is sep 1861 Shoreditch. Now common sense tells me that looking at the ages the 1861 may be the correct one but the ages on the birth certificate and the marriage dont add up and ot the 1891 census Matilda is age 29 and down as born in wandsworth surrey.
Also would James change his job from a lab at a copper mill to a printer ? Also what are the chances of two people marrying with the identical names when they are so unusual with all those middle names?. Before I order the wrong certificate I just wanted to check if I was heading down the correct line?. Thank you for reading this any views would be helpful. Thanx rach

if Matilda was 23 in 1884 when she married then surely she was born 1861/2 and not 1864

so this is the 1861 marriage:

and the birth cert you have is obviously their daughter but whether you have the correct birth for your Matilda I would doubt.

the witnesses on the marriage of Matilda and Richard were Sarah Ann and Charles Eves. I looked for a marriage for these 2 and it would seem that she was Sarah Ann Miller so probably Matilda's sister as her father is given as James Miller Printer
They married in 1875 and Sarah Ann was 19.

Still can't find James Miller a Printer

Taken a look at 1861 and 1871 census for a Matilda Miller born c1860 with father James and could only find one, shes born in Sussex and they live in Cuckfield sussex in `61 and Tonbridge Kent in `71 and hes a Gardner on both census`s ...

so not sure where your Matilda fits in.

Just checked every house in the 1881 at Archel road fulham { the nearest I could find to Archill} but no sign of matilda or richard.

I see by 1901 Matilda is older than Richard.
