I can read the questions but there don't seem to be any replies!

Notice all the posters are familiar helpers!

Reply to my queries (very prompt which is good):

We did some Market Research a while ago and one thing that came out of it was that our members who were helping didn’t feel valued. So the idea for the Help Clinic came from that.

We wanted to give a dedicated place for members, particularly newer ones, to come and ask for help. We are going to be closely monitoring all of this to see how it goes. I’d be very interested to hear your feedback after a week or so.
I am sorry you don’t like the star. We just wanted to show recognition for our Advisors.

Thanks all

I have rebooted a couple of times - to no avail but if I just click in white space under community

The clinic opens

I was using Google Chrome. couldn`t see the help clinic button so loaded Firefox and could.
So I re-opened Chrome and saw a white blank space where the button should be, refreshed the page and it appeared.

One improvement is the 'Add your reply' box after the last posting on a thread.

And the Golden Star markings are for those who have signed up as 'advisors', so that everyone knows who they are.

Well i cant see the "help clinc" tab, no matter what i press.

I use IE8 windows 7.

Another problem unless its just me, when i go to read a post say on TTF and then go back to the TTF board it just brings up the surnames relative to name indicated in the post, so all i get is the surnames, so then i have to awitch off the surname filter to see the all the threads.

Probably just me.

No, George, not just you....it's one of GR's stupid 'improvements'

Flick

Flick Report 18 Nov 2010 13:41

If GR members can't find answers under the original system ,why should putting them in a separate category make them any more likely to be able to find them?

brummiejan

brummiejan Report 18 Nov 2010 13:43

Well, thanks for the "refresh" tip, have now found the page. Must say I am feeling this is a bad move by Genes as it cuts down the number of people looking. Maybe you should all sign up!!

I am not too keen on the " Yellow " Star ---- there are other colours

The Yellow Star has not always signified - GR Advisors

Jews throughout Nazi-occupied Europe were forced to wear a badge in the form of a Yellow Star as a means of identification.

Brummiejan

May I ask a question?

The e-mail apparently stipulated that 10 queries per week have to be answered by 'advisors'..........exactly what do GR mean by 'answered'?

Does posting 'I'll have a look for it' qualify as an 'answer'?

Or does actual info have to be provided for it to count?

brummiejan

brummiejan Report 18 Nov 2010 14:24

Good question, no idea! I have a feeling this is all going to be abandoned at some point. My other query is whether only threads on help clinic count as I suspect most queries will be answered on the boards, and that means some of us get freebies and not others which is unfair.

PS have asked for star to be removed.

AnnCardiff Report 18 Nov 2010 15:23

if it ain't broke don't fix it as the saying goes!!!

Flick

Flick Report 18 Nov 2010 15:42

Personally, I don't think that the star should be removed............

Renes

Renes Report 18 Nov 2010 15:50

Not bothered about a ""Star""

am bothered that a genealogical site offering WW11 information access manages to opt for YELLOW ---- when one thinks of all the colours they could have choosen -

with no historical meaning

I do not like this new system one little bit - and can I ask, are those of you with yellow stars now getting paid by GR? if not, you should be

Kay????

Kay???? Report 18 Nov 2010 16:54

a nice bright blue star would have had more inpact,as the yellow is insipid and a constant reminder of the jewishe onslought,,plus it looks like a sherriffs badge,,,,

and to name it Clinic looks like its for ailments .!

sure the new joining members will think they are in a maze of boards.

Flick

Flick Report 18 Nov 2010 16:58

I suspect that the star was intended to be GOLD......but it's not come across as that.

And those who have them, as I understand it, don't actually get paid, but they get a free Platinum sub on GR........and have been promised a 'present' at Christmas.
