Alfred Thomas Powell 24 years batchelor address 16 midland Terrace, Bradford, Yorkshire. Father's Name Joseph Thomas Powell.
Ada May Alderson. 18 years spinster Address 6 park Grove.Bradford.
Father's name; Thomas Alderson. ( Deceased )
witness Emily Powell. This could have been my grandmother Joseph Thomas's Wife ?
The other witness is B. Robertshaw. I have no knowledge of this person.

witness's Emily Powell (This I would think was my grandmother. wife of Joseph Thomas. and a B Robertshaw. I don't remember any Robertshaw.

The marriage Cert' that I have is sighned by Ada May Alderson. and one of the witnesses is Emily Powell who is my grandmother , wife of Joseph Thomas
Powell.as in the father's name on the marriage certificate ( as above )
I have Sarah Jane's Alderson's death certificate Sarah remarried a Joseph Thurlby., in 1918 and died 1933 in Roddymoor Crook.aged 41 and the informant was Ada May Powell daughter living at 16 Midland Terrace, Bradford, which was the home of my paternal Grandparents, and where I grew up.

trying to work out age info ,
1911 8mths old so as posted would then be born Aug/Sept 1910
July 1927 marriage 18yrs. If same child as 1911 she would be 19 in the Aug/Sept giving a birth year 1908? !!!!if my maths is right

Hi Margaret,

Sometimes middle names were given at baptisms and are then used for life but a birth registration will only show one name.

hello Tempest Sorry for delay my computer has been playing up
and my replies have been going onto the community board .............

I know we are a year out on the certificate ie Ada being 18 ?
when she married my father in 1927, but I do think we have the correct person.Alfred Thomas Powell 24-i6 Midland terrace--Bradford
Father's name and surname Joseph Thomas Powell
Ada May Alderson 6 Park Grove- BFD Father's name Thomas Alderson deceased. Witness's on the certificate are Emily Powell ( who was my grandmother) B Robertshaw . I don't know this name.
Sarah Jane Alderson Ada May's mother, remarried a Joseph Thurlby 1918 and died 1933
And the informant was A.Powell daughter living at 16 Midland Terrace-Bradford. This was the home of my paternal grandparents, and where I grew up

Hello Jansmith- Sorry for delay but had a lot of problems with my computer last night and my replies ended up on the community board.

I am sorry I do not know when Ada May Died. When Ada May left my father 1938/40 we were living at 321 Kings Road-Bradford. but moved to 16 Midland Terrace-Manningham-Bradford. The home of my paternal grandparents.
Joseph Thomas and Emily Powell who died March 1949 just a week apart
My father died the following June 1950. I was 14 years old. My mother never returned, I only have one or two flash back memories of her. I need to try to find her so I can bring some sort of closure to my life.

During the war years Alfred was in the Bradford Police
Ada May ....... Domestic servant.

Sorry missed out ocupation's of grandfather's

Joseph Thomas Powell was an engine driver based in Manningam-Bfd.

Thomas William Alderson was a coal miner hewer as in the 1911 census

feel sure I have the correct mother's name Ada May Alderson
I have my parents marriage certificate July 1927in Bradford Yorkshire
the witness's name Emily .Powell. is my grandmother. Robertshaw I have no knowledge.
Sarah Jane Alderson ( my maternal Grandmother ) re married 1918 AND DIED 1933 On the Death Certificate it gives person present at the time of death A Powell address given 16 Midland terrace. Bradford. This is my Paternal grandparent address. The address where I lived 'till the death of my grandparents.

there are 3 trees on ancestry that have Ada May Alderson on

each have her birth as 3 May 1909 in Durham, but haven't got a link to a birth record

between them they have her as having between 1 and 5 children including: Emily 1927-1927, Muriel 1929 - 2008 and Jim 1936 -1937

You have the correct family My sister Muriel 1929 - 2008 always had this date in mind but nothing has ever come up for this - we just don't know

there is a posting on ancestry "i am looking for my grandmother ada may powell (nee alderson) birth date 3rd may 1909 .she separated from my grandfather during the 1939-45 war and i believe she had an hotel in blackpool...can you help?"
