Hello friends

Can I again please ask for your help ?

My gt.grandfather named above, his father named on certificates is Henry Darling (Navy)

Years ago a friend of Genes found his birth in Limerick (Ireland) along with a brother/sister - Mother Margret and father Henry.

On asking a genealogist for help to find Samuel's Navy records - (his death cert states Navy Pensioner) - the genealogist has dismissed his birth information but couldn't find his Navy Records.

I have minimal information on Samuel; apart from his 2 marriages in Devon and his death cert. He has on several occasions just used his middle name
Henry, but there is another of similar age born in Devon who is actually HENRY.

Again, years ago when they were changing offices, the Devon Records could not help except to say he must have 'popped in and out of Devon to Ireland.'

I know there is the most knowledgeable people on this site and I hope they can help me please.

Who did he marry? I can see the two marriages in 1864 and 1888.

Problem is that sometimes people put their place of birth as where they were living

Yes the two marriages are his and also Sophia is his daughter.
I think he may have reversed his Henry Samuel in the 1901 census as he died in 1909. The 1871 is also his as is Charles Henry - my grandfather.
Sophia married Nehemiah Stoneman not long after Samuels 2nd marriage.
They all seem to be my family's records.

Henry Darling on Venus' is the stumbling block it seems as there are two Henry's (in fact hundreds as Seamen)
This was the reason the genealogist suggested about the two Henry's and how did I know mine was the one born in Adare.

That was the reason I turned to Devon for their records as it was Topsham Devon I noticed and they suggested he popped in and out of Devon??

Just to add to the confusion: Charles Henry was also in the Navy but I have all his records. He changed his birth date to sign on as a 'boy' as a 12 year old.

Doing some sums on your info and the 'Indus' is one of the ships Charles Henry (my g/father) served on.
Could this indeed be my ancestors born in Oxford ??
