hi Flick
no, I don't have an ancestry subscription - i have a 3 month voucher for FMP at the moment - just trying to work out what is best for my needs...
i was told that ancestry only have the marriage records for 1800 until 1834 for St Martin in the Fields and since he was born / bap in 1779 I thought he may hae been married prior to 1800.
nothing came up on the igi....but his second marriage to Sarah Thompson did.

cheers

Vanessa,

The pre-1813 London records that Ancestry has are now at least partially indexed.

There are two baptisms at St Andrews Holborn for children of John & Louisa Manley.

Louisa Christina Elizabeth on 12 Jul 1807
Mary on 6 Feb 1809

I'll send you the images.

Looked at the marriages of Manley names in Westminster and found a Thomas Christian Manley marrying Amelia Blackmun or man in St. Martin on 17 Jun 1832, he born about 1811. Looks like one of yours. John & Susan Paxton or Parton are witnesses. Looking at witnesses on others didn't help. He is, I found his baptism in St. Martin with parents as John & Louisa

Richard Christian Manley born 17 Jan 1810 bap 24 Feb 1811

Thought I should mention two baptisms in St. Andrew, Holborn to John and Louisa Manley

Louisa Christiana Elizabeth born 22 Apr 1807 bap 12 Jul

Mary bap 6 May 1809 If I were her I would have had a complex because I got only one name and my sister had three and my birthdate was left out of the baptism record.

Louisa Manley's burial at St. Martin, 7 May 1819, age 33, living in Hunts Cot.

The ONLY marriage for his name on Ancestry is the one you were given earlier in the thread....if there had been another one, it would have been added.

thank you to everyone for your help and advice!

charlotte - love the comment about the 3 names versus one! i too only have one name and my YOUNGER sister has 3...just something else to blame my parents for....

looks like I need to search wider for John Christian's first marriage.

vanessa :-)
