I really, really don't like the big purple tree on the home page, and it makes the home page look more cluttered :(

Oh yes please Jean - I agree with you! Let's have our 'information at a glance' back. I sent a mail earlier to the team saying just that. Pink and blue boxes said everything even from a distance. As for those boy and girl pictures (aren't they just oh so cute!) in the tree boxes... :-(

me, i prefered the old one, brighter with more imformation at a glance :-(

Simon, I wasn't really serious, the adverts don't bother me and I don't have the timing or other problems that so many GR members have.

I did prefer the random pictures that the beta site showed though.

For problems with GR it has become clear ( to me ) you will have no other option but to use the Google Chrome browser

KenSE - Adverts? What are they?

I use Mozilla Firefox and Adblocker Plus which gets rid of all these nasty space-consuming adverts.

Try it:

There's a version for Chrome too - maybe for others - just Google 'Adblocker' and see if there's a version for your operating system.

"The issue of the pale turquoise text on the white background is a theme that is emerging in a majority of the feedback, so this will be something we look at doing differently. "

yet now Katie is telling us what seems to be the opposite ..................


"If the light background continues to be a problem for people, we will look into other solutions, but of the 5000 people who we invited to test the beta site, only a small percentage sent feedback and this was a real mix of positive and negative,"

Fanny, the space currently being used for Right Guard adverts was, on the beta site, used for a random selection of pictures. Two of those that came up were of female beach volleyball players. Sylvia protested about one of the pictures earlier in this thread.

It should cut down peoples electricity bills as there is no longer the need to have the room lights on whilst surfing Genes Reunited.

I agree Joy, a few years ago I could hardly keep up with the posts, they were coming in thick and fast, now it is not unusual for there to be ten or so new subjects in a day. It would be a shame to see even more familiar name disappear.

I don't think the new tree is TOO bad but I do agree that the pages and the tree background are a wee bit on the bright side and the text could do with being a bit bigger.

Still, I loved the old tree though ................

As I have said before, I absolutely HATE the green " Please Wait " bars that pop up each time I look at a different relation. I don't need to know that they are gathering information, placing relations e.t.c. Does anyone else have this problem ? And why is the family that I am looking at always stuck under the navigation keys on the left and then have to be centered. Something to do with the information box being on the right, I suppose.

The other thing is, do we really need a pink lady and a blue man icon by each tree name ? What was wrong with just the pink and blue boxes. I find them quite distracting. Anyway, they don't look anything like my family !!!!

Also, today, I am unable to view my tree in full screen and can not scroll down my list of other trees any further than C to reach the next page button. Am hoping it is just a first day glitch. M
