Genes Reunited has had a makeover!

Dear jax,

The Genes team have been hard at work giving the site a makeover so that it is fresh, clean and most importantly easier to use. As a valued member, we would like to invite you to be one of the first to look at the changes we have made and let us know what you think.

Was just going to say "What makes you so special, jax?" Decided to check my email first and, lo and behold, I received one too! So if you're special, so am I.

Edit: !@#$% When I tried to submit this I got the error message. Tried again and it posted twice. Forget the makeovers GR and fix the problems!!!

I am testing it now, but the screen is too white for me...not good on my eyes

Just a thought. Wonder if we've all got the same user name and password? I'm number 1. Are we all?

I can't access it. I even c&p'd the password. No go.

Maybe you have to wait until I have finished? cannot see much difference apart from the screen colour...I dont use the trees or records so no point looking there

What's happening? i have logged in to the makeover beta site and the old tree is still available on this ?

I am finding it a bit offputting to place the first line of the posts to the right poster. Think they need to leave out the line in between so its each thread is in one block

I have just had a go and I am not keen on the brilliant white screen. I also see that the old tree is still there - is it going to stay?? Otherwise, in a very quick visit, not much change.

I posted on my thread about the old tree still showing on this makeover beta version and then got a reply via pm from GR thanking me for pointing it out and they said they have now removed the link to the old tree

What a relief to get back to this version and actually be able to read it. Such a usless pale print on the beta.
If Genes use the new pale print - will they issue us all with super douper glasses so we can actually see the print.

I had to come off the beta site because it was giving me a head ache

It took me four attempts to get in, even doing a c & p on the username/password. Does anyone like the white screen and pale print? Very tiring on the eyes and, as a migraine sufferer, I would not be able to look at that screen for very long. Like Shirley I also think they should look at the way they have lined up "topic, posted by" etc. on the thread headings. There doesn't seem to be much wrong with the way they are doing it now - at least it is clear.

I'd much rather GR spent time putting the current site to rights - I've just had the dreaded purple error message over and over again. Couldn't move from the page I was on even to log out so I had to close the whole thing down and start again. Now if only they could sort that.......

Just went to log off and got the purple error message!!!!!!!!!!

(Actually I did notice it had actually logged me off when i went to write this)

Glad its not me who dislikes the paleness of the beta version.

Hope everyone is making a note of the likes/dislikes and errors and using the feed back form on the email.

No, didn't get one. But then, I am in the norty corner today. :-(
