Not sure how long I could view white background with pale blue writing

I just tried to access it again. Third try I got in but I got the "Please Wait" message with the circle going round and round. I waited and I waited and finally gave up and shut it down. Consequently I can't give an opinion about it.

The new "search other trees" is SO FRUSTRATING!!!

You will get a list of the name you're searching for, no hint to say if you've already been in contact; you have to click on EVERY one of them to see who "owns" the name.:-P Time consuming and annoying :-P

I won't miss this when I go next month! Had enough of this broken site. :-P Also had enough of GR ignoring WHAT MEMBERS WANT!!:-P

Had to sign in AGAIN. I DO NOT sign out. :-P

When I go I'll be taking my tree with me - over 19,000 names on it.

Thank you everyone for taking a look at the beta site and making comments. Yes, they are all being carefully assessed, both the comments on here and primarily the ones sent to the mailbox referred to in the email.

We have released updates overnight to the Beta site, so things like My Updates now work again. In this phase most of the functionality has not changed, so things should work as before. We have given the site a fresher simpler look, and we have done a "houseclean" across the whole site to try and apply a consistent look and feel on all pages. This was not the case before.

Just to confirm, as was mentioned earlier in this thread, the payment section and the tree have not been refreshed yet on the beta site, so yes it will look exactly like the existing one.

I have a feeling that IGP is closely linked to the GR team - he ALWAYS seems happy with anything they do......lol

My only issue with the beta site is how stark the white background makes the site.

If GR are smart with the colour they choose then it shouldn't be a problem.

I suppose we will just have to wait until we can access our family trees to see what they look like if they are any different at all.

We were all told weeks ago because of the old code that GR used that the old tree would be going so there is no point huffing and puffing about it now. We were all warned.

The trouble is Gai that some 'helpers' kept advising anyone who had a problem, to use the old tree instead of reporting the problem via support.

No I did not go to London last week. I simply reported in my earlier post what Phil had told me by PM.

To me, the term "Makeover" means a facelift or in other words, a change to how the site looks rather than how it functions. I do not understand what IGP meant regarding checking the functuality.
I will be looking to see what changes have been made overnight.

But given that there is now a Beta Test site, it would seem reasonable to suppose that it could be used to test future developments more thoroughly before introducing to the larger membership?

As to the new tree, I will admit there is much I do not like and hope to see changed. I have yet to see if the problems experienced by others re data entry are still experienced by me so I have an open mind. We all knew that the Old tree would be withdrawn eventually..

One other good thing to come out of all this is that my ISP is no longer blacklisted and I can now send emails to "Support" and "TheTeam"

Why are they changing it all again???

I have been using the new tree today and added new people without a problem. There hasn't been any duplications and it all seems to be working great.

I also went to FMP and started to enter a tree on their website and while it's very similar to GR, I found I like using GR better.

Now to have a ISP that GR doesn't block would be great. I'm very envious of you Jeremy.

The "new" tree looks different.

It does other things...........

It takes forever to download
It clones people
It does weird things with more than one spouse (and I don't mean kinky)
It deletes notes you put there previously
It deletes photographs
It cannot do a proper search for names on other trees
It is slower than a wet week (I've never seen a program as slow-running as this!)

I'm sure there are more "features", but I refuse to use it.

Yes, I DID send messages to GR about problems I had with the new tree, but the responses were less than pathetic...... until I said I wasn't happy at all and wouldn't renew.... then I received REAL replies, instead of the generic ones.

Thank you for taking the time to send your feedback. We will be collating all responses over the next few days and making updates and changes based on our members reactions.

The light print on the white background is a theme we have seen emerging, so we will look into other ways to present this.

I just received a PM from her giving me access to the Beta version.

Other than the fact that I can barely see anything due to the colour scheme it looks OK.

Can't comment on Trees-don't use it.

I was finally able to gain access today and had to report to them that I hate it. With my old eyes I found it very difficult to read the posts and I certainly wouldn't be able to use the site for any length of time, just too much of a strain.

I'll bet anything you like that they won't take a blind bit of notice of the 'feedback'

I've received a nice reply to my feedback, and it does seem that the issue with the white screen and pale text colour has been raised by quite a few and is being given due consideration,so that's good
