Thankyou Roy..........I am yet to decide if I am going to leave it here or not but I am def going to gedcom it to a program that I feel safe with.

If you export your tree GR email you a copy, the tree remains unless you delete it,

but always make sure you have received the (copy) before deleting

I really don't know what the problem is. Perhaps it is the new tree format as Gai suggested. The dates came up as day month year as written in the last reply, 12 Mar 1962, however, as I had mentioned earlier, instead of 1962 it would come up as 2012. I will try and contact Genes to see if this could be rectified as I really would like to use the program for my partner's tree!

Date formats can be a problem when using gedcom to move data between tree programs, so the problem isn't a new one. I only use dd mmm yyyy i.e. 12 Mar 1962, but 12/03/1962 should work too.

How exactly do the dates which failed to transfer correctly appear on GR?

BordersLass,

I did the same as you but in 2010 when I bought FTM and my gedcom imported without a problem.

I wonder if it's a problem with the new tree format that has caused your issue.

Hello, I recently purchased the Family Tree Maker 2012 software. I wanted to export my Genes Reunited tree onto this software which I did without problems, or so I thought. My entire tree came up on the software, however, dates for births and deaths came up incorrectly. Marriage dates were perfectly correct curiously enough! For example, it said my grandfather was born in 2012 and died in 2012! I did contact the Family Tree Maker technical support team and they seemed to believe it was a problem with Genes. I had to manually correct the dates which took some time but I finally finished it. I was wondering if anyone else had any problems with this? My partner would like to use my software as well, however, considering he has over 1000 people on his tree, it would be an absolute nightmare going through and correcting dates manually. Is there anyone out there who has Family Tree Maker who can tell me how to avoid this problem?
Thanks :-)
