Remember that the people transcribing probably don't know what a numerical half is............they probably are familiar only with decimals

You´re probably right Jonesey. Hadn´t thought of that, but then, I knew how old they should be.

The person who transcribed the records obviously assumed that their ages had been recorded as months rather than years.

More a case of lack of knowledge of the principles of biology rather than weak mathematical abilities.

Researching:
Don't put off until tomorrow doing what you can do today. If you like doing it today you can do it again tomorrow.

On the 1911 census, 2 sisters shown as aged 0.
I knew it was an error because one of them got married in 1921.
The original shows 1 aged 81/2 & the other 6 1/2.
Both transcribed with yob 1911.
Was it too difficult to work out the halves without a calculator?
