Two people on here who have been kind enough to send me the name, had independently come to the same conclusion. For me, that makes it a stronger belief.

Reading back over the requests from the person, the level of info requested suggests that they have done almost no searching for themselves; perhaps only what is available via the 1881, FamilySearch and FreeBMD - so just the free sites.

I wonder how much of the reseach we have carried out on here has been charged for by that person but I don't suppose that's one thing we will ever find out.

I have to make it clear that the "suspicion" I mentioned in an earlier post of mine is just that ................. "suspicion" that a certain person might be doing work that is for other people, and that might be charged for.

I have no proof ............ but it is comforting to know that I am not the only one with the same "suspicion".

Thanks to the two people who took the time and trouble to pm - both shared the same suspicion.

I appreciate the heads up.

I have shared the info with a handful of people but I am incredibly mindful of being accused in the future by GR of 'stirring it'.

As Sylvia has said, I too am happier that two people are of the same impression. But I want to repeat, it is suspicion only and must be treated as nothing more than that. We have NO proof.

For this reason, and I apologise, but I am not going to pass on the name to any further enquirers for at least a little while.

I echo what Jill and Sylvia say - that it is only a suspicion.

Thank you to the 2 people who pm'd me

Whilst any form of misuse of the site by members is to be frowned upon, pointing the finger at particular individuals is just as wrong too, and could be construed as potentially libelous.

Yes, by all means debate the subject but please no more passing of names about before someone gets hurt.

Perhaps the mere fact that it the issue is being aired will serve to deter the ones who do abuse the generosity of GR members...................or is that a' cloud cuckoo land' idea?

IGP

As long as no public naming takes place, the passing of info cannot be construed as libellous

Got several message all naming the same person. Some of the members that contacted me have not contributed to this thread but obviously read it.

Bit annoyed if this person is a professional researcher as I have forwarded images to them.

Now is the ideal time to put a subscription to Ancestry on your Christmas list, if you don't already have one. My first Ancestry sub was a birthday present ten years ago and I have been a member ever since. I have used it several times every week since I got it, for my self, my friends and for loads of members on here. I do it because I just love research and like a lot of others have said I get a buzz from finding the correct information or proving something to be incorrect. I enjoy helping others to move on with their tree. I would not like to think that someone was selling my work, my time and use of my subs.

Please can someone pm me the name under suspicion

time to punch this up again, I think

as there are suspicions of another professional researcher asking not only for the work to be done, but to be given marriage certs etc so that he can pass them off as his own work

No names, no pack drill

just be aware.

Just read these posts with a lot of disappointment. I havent been active here for a while but never realised that 'professionals' had others doing their work for them.
I didnt think I was naive until now.
