James Report 28 Dec 2012 18:38

If she did marry George Ridgway, there is a death in 1906 for a Martha Ridgway.. Also noticed a death in 1900 for a Martha Dormer so was wondering if either of these was the correct one. Both deaths are in Buckinghamshire. Also cannot find anything in 1891 census for either of them or the son John. I know he joined Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders at Stirling, Scotland in 1891 but not sure if it was before or after the census date. He is not on the 1891 Scotland Census.

K Report 28 Dec 2012 19:08

The death you found in 1906 does look like it should be the right Martha with the right age. The other death for Martha (Dormer) is Wycombe Registration District outside the area that she previously lived.

As Martha Ridgway is listed at the next of kin on her son's enlistment then I think that 1906 death would be the right one. Her marriage cert to George Ridgway would help confirm this.

William John Dormer joined up in July 1891. Will have another look at the 1891 census

Name: Martha Ridgway

Hi Tony

As you've picked up on a 2 year old thread, it might be best to ask James off board in case he no longer checks his thread.

Just click on his name and send a PM (personal message) . As long as he hasn't changed his email address GR will notify him that you have information of interest
