This link is to a site called "A Guide to Researching Your Hungarian Ancestors".

It is divided into online and offline, and most of the online seems to be on Family Search, as mentioned by Jan (above).

Have you tried a google search? No idea if it helps, but might be worth a look:

My friend's paternal grandparents came from Hungary and he is having problems finding any BMD records.

His grandparents came and settled here sometime during (or soon after) WW2, family rumours is that they were escaping from ther Germans or the Russians. I thought maybe his family were Jewish and maybe he could contact a Jewish centre who have these kind of records but he said that his family were Roman Catholic. Thankfully they got married over here so he have their wedding certificate which gives both fathers names and occupations. Unfortunately thats as as far back as he's managed to get .

His father and uncle arent very forthcoming concerning their family history, but it could be that they don't know much, his family came from Budapest and he does have a great aunt (grand mothers sister) still alive in Budapest but he can only get in touch with her through his father and uncle who are proving to be difficult.

He has worldwide access to to ancestry.co.uk but the records on there are sparse. Does anyone on here know anyway (apart from going to Budapest) he could find out any BMD information as he has hit a major brick wall
