Looking at this photo you'd never know it was a hotel when it was taken:

Hi Grunkle

The house is no longer a hotel apparently. There's a picture dated 2007, but not as a hotel, on Geograph:

http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/405383

Also planning applications indicate a lot of build around it:

Thanks for all suggestions I have writen to the hotel asking if they can help , No repy so far but when I tried to make booking on web page it was'nt working so may not be operating now , English heritage could not find any pics allthough it is a listed building surpriseing ?No success with local records offices either apparently the house is surrounded by a new housing developement now, so earlier photographs are realy important I shall try to contact local historical society and ask for their help and maybe some estate agents in the area will have old files & pics , I made a trip to the area last month and took pics of Cleadon Westoe & Monkwearmouth all places where GG Grandfather lived and worked including Blacksmiths House at Cleadon where grandfather lived as an apprentice in 1881 still standing & looking good

Can't help with photos but this is what English Heritage had to say about the lodge in 1967:-

floor rear windows are horizontal sliding sashes. Roof has wide eaves, 2 end
and 2 rear corniced ashlar chimneys. Interior : stair either side of full-

Would it be worth contacting the hotel? They often have historical photos hanging on their walls.

You could also play around with the Durham Record Office site, or contact them
