Second tree?

ProfilePosted byOptionsPost Date

Christine Report 23 Oct 2012 11:53

There was a thread on here a while ago, which I now can't find, asking if it was possible to have another separate tree on GR. The answer was, if I remember correctly, to open a second free account. Does anyone know how I go about doing that? When I go into the Genes Reunited site, it automatically picks up my details and I can't find anywhere to go in as a "new" person.

PS: I am expecting visitors who may or may not arrive today(!) - if I disappear suddenly, I will get back ASAP - the computer is in the spare bedroom. Will be very grateful for any help.

I take it that you don't log/sign out?

Try login/signing out, then instead of comming back through a saved link, Just enter into the address bar

If that doesnt work then delete your cache and try again

Have you tried signing out and starting again?

If I recall correctly, you do need a different password for each account you have.

Chrissie2394 Report 23 Oct 2012 12:38

I have three trees on here. i use the same email address but a different password for each one. You just have to remember to log out of the one you are using if you want to work on one of the others.

Thelma Report 23 Oct 2012 14:30

I have four trees on here and never log out.
Just use a different Genes address

Porkie_Pie Report 23 Oct 2012 14:43

Thelma, having 4 trees and never logging out is different to coming back to the site to register for another tree/account,

You need sign out in order to get to the page with the link to the page where you can sign up for another free account

Once you have more than one tree/account you can access any individual tree/account from your saved link to that tree/account, no need to log out and in again

Thelma Report 23 Oct 2012 16:39

I repeat
No need to log out.
Look at the bottom left of this page and you will see :-

Genes Reunited Australia

Genes Reunited New Zealand

Genes Reunited South Africa

Create your second account on one of those.

Porkie_Pie Report 23 Oct 2012 17:32

Thelma, what about people who and ( i'm one ) who use the diferent web addresses as listed at the bottom of the page,

I stay logged in to all the addresses below because when is playing up i can switch at any time

So if i want another account i have to log/sign out of at least one of them

Christine Report 23 Oct 2012 20:01

Bless you all - will give it a go when I get a minute!

Christine Report 25 Oct 2012 23:07

I've done it! Thank you. My apologies for the long silence - I wasn't able to get back until my visitors left this evening. many thanks for your help everyone.

Good advice. Thanks. I've started a new tree for a friend who is thinking of joining up. I'm also thinking of setting up some "branch trees" for people who I suspect are related but can't quite link to my tree yet. :-)
