Welcome to the Boards Norman.

If you have a list of names, you could use the Search Tree function on here,to see if anyone has entered them. You could then contact the tree owners who may have some information.

Ancestry has a data base called 'UK Incoming Passenger Lists, 1878-1960' which might be worth exploring.
Individuals might also have gone to the USA - Ancestry have border crossings From Canada to U.S., 1895-1954

The 1930 and 1940 (plus earlier ) US census is available for free on https://www.familysearch.org/

Ancestry has recently added some Canadian ER, but coverage and date range is a bit patchy.

Assuming you have a number of names you are trying to trace, you could normally access Ancestry from your local library. That's assuming you don't have a subscription of your own.

in 1928-9 unemployed miners & and labourers left liverpool on board the liner "regina" to seek employment with the canadian government and to assist in bringing in their harvest hence the name "the-harvesters" is anyone out there interested in this expedition having lost contact with members of their family i am seeking anyone who has amassed any info on this venture many men were from the north-east of england [benwell - byker - s/shields] also any info on any return voyages of these men would be of a great help norman j
