Can you explain what you mean? There are more than 50 characters in your sentence above and most posts asking for help have hundreds!!

What help do you need?

Rambling Report 26 Oct 2012 21:13

You can only put 3 to 50 characters in the title of the post, but the post length itself is unlimited as far as I am aware.

Also if you are talking about the post title - it should be short & precise

ie Harold Smith 1858 London

and then in the body outline what you are looking for and give more info there.

The post titles I abhor are those which give absoluletly nothing

ie Smith

or Help

I personally do not even bother to open those. :-D

What gives you such a strange idea?

How many characters do you think are in your post?

Try starting a thread as an experiment Reggie, with a long title. Then you'll appreciate what Jackie and Rose mean. You can always do a quick delete after you've had a go. ;-)

Spaces or punctuation also count as characters

DET - surely the point is that the information should be in the body of the post and not try to put it all in the title?

Gee Report 27 Oct 2012 15:00

Field must be between 3 and 8000 characters long in the main body of the text/post

Never tried using lots of info in the title

MC - yes, you are right. However Reggie didn't appear to realise that there was a maximum character count for the title :-)

As Rose said in her post @ 21.13 on the 26 Oct

*You can only put 3 to 50 characters in the title of the post, but the post length itself is unlimited as far as I am aware. *

Which clarifies Jackies OP of *its sad but you only get 3 to 50 charectors to give enough info for you nice people out there to help me*

If you had already taken the above on board, then I apologise although it didn't 'read' as part of the exchange of views that you had.
:-)
