How do I find twins?

ProfilePosted byOptionsPost Date

Carole Report 31 Oct 2012 14:45

I am looking for the birth records of twins called Albert and Alfred Jackson. I think they were born around 1920 but not certain. Would they both be on the same registration record sheet? Should I be looking for both names on the same sheet with the same mother's maiden name or doesn't it work like that?

Johnnyblueeyes Report 31 Oct 2012 14:53

I have seen a brother and sister in the birth reg book with the same number
registered at the same time.
Where were your twins born.

jansmith Report 31 Oct 2012 15:09

Do you know of any other siblings?

brummiejan Report 31 Oct 2012 15:10

Carole, where are you looking? Freebmd is the best place:

This is all anyone else will do. You are right, the MMN will be the same, as will the volume and page refs.

Kense Report 31 Oct 2012 15:18

Couldn't the page numbers be different by one, or would they start a new page rather than put the first one in the last slot on a page?

brummiejan Report 31 Oct 2012 15:22

I guess so - but I would assume the same to begin with, then if you can't find them widen the search!
You could do with an idea of location though, or as jansmith says, name of a sibling to find MMN.

Andysmum Report 31 Oct 2012 15:27

On the original local register they would have been next to each other, and possibly, as Ken says, on different pages. But, on the composite version, which is what we see, they are not next to each other as the registers are alphabetical.

What happened to your other thread, Carole?

One per topic is the avoid duplication of effort for helpers

greyghost Report 31 Oct 2012 19:05

The other thread is still there and the probable registration was posted there along with other work done

Reggie Report 31 Oct 2012 22:05

That's why I posted the link for it..............

Thanks to everyone. Sorry if I have taken up too much time. I have all my answers on the other thread.
