Yes Malcolm I had a relative send me a couple of old photos and asked if I could let her know who they where with her mother who was a bridesmaid Her mother was born 1923 and was abt 10 in the photo many many years before I was a twinkle in my dad's eye. |

Ive knocked on doors as well, but i knew where my grandmother lived as i had lived with her when i was a young lad at that house. |

Whatever you photo, take the time to label the image and store it correctly, yes digitally it's even easier. Put them on a memory stick..not just on your Hard Drive which will eventually vaporise the lot. |

I have taken loads of photos of houses my ancestors lived in. I don't think there is anything wrong in that. I have spoken to some residents but not all. No one has ever had any problem with me taking photos especially when I have explained why. Most are quite interested and some have even asked me in to look around. |

I have taken photos my wife and my ancesters houses when I have located them, I knock on the door and explain to the people who live there now that my ancesters lived there many years ago and would they mind if I took a photo, some say yes and some say no. |

I share your concern but it didn't seem to bother Google Street View which clearly show individual houses. |

If it's on Google street search you can always print off the image - I think! Have never tried but the option is there. |
