FreeBMD updates abt every 4 weeks.
Ancestry uses FreeBMD's transcriptions up to 1915, so they update those at abt the same time.

FreeBMD's 2011 update dates were:
As of 27/01/11 contains 196,409,162 distinct records (250,226,877 total records).
As of 27/02/11 contains 197,904,633 distinct records (251,982,964 total records).
As of 26/03/11 contains 199,087,156 distinct records (253,382,265 total records).
As of 23/04/11 contains 200,297,431 distinct records (254,805,469 total records).
As of 20/05/11 contains 201,359,803 distinct records (256,030,829 total records).
As of 16/06/11 contains 202,560,089 distinct records (257,412,880 total records).
As of 15/07/11 contains 203,657,810 distinct records (258,717,890 total records).
As of 13/08/11 contains 204,780,914 distinct records (260,049,921 total records).
As of 10/09/11 contains 205,939,729 distinct records (261,403,593 total records).
As of 07/10/11 contains 206,977,723 distinct records (262,641,105 total records).
As of 10/11/11 contains 208,303,224 distinct records (264,209,871 total records).
As of 04/12/11 contains 209,323,684 distinct records (265,436,329 total records).

Just to add that Birmingham Library is shortly to close for ten months whilst the move to the new library takes place.

You would need to check out their website before planning a visit there.

There is no intention ever to put online any records which are more recent than those already available

The only places you will find indexes to post 2006 BMDs are at the following libraries:

Manchester, Birmingham, Bridgend, Plymouth, City of Westminster, London Metropolitan and The British Library.

It seems there are no plans to update commercial sites.

Hi,
Does anyone know if, when or how often the BMD's are updated on any of the commercial sites?
I've been a member of Ancestry for nearly two years but the BMD's still only go up to 2005/6 (are they updated yearly?)
