Hi,

Hope a member can help a confused oap!

I have been trying to insert an 'occupation' fact into my trees
without any success whatsoever. The answer will most likely to
be very simple. The help info seems to confuse me futher.

I would appreciate any member who could just 'spell it out' for me.

Many thanks.

This is for FTM 2012 but earlier versions are similar. Applies for any type of individual fact.

i. Select the person
ii. Double click to open the Individual Fact page or right click and select view details
iii. Press F4 or click the blue plus sign near the top right of the big left hand pane. This opens the Add Fact box
iv. Scroll down to the fact you require or type the first few letters of the fact name, click ok
v. The cursor will now move to the top of the right hand pane with the fact you have selected open. Most fact have three fields - Date, Place and Description. Enter the info you require
vi. Press enter to move to the next field. Enter again and the fact will be saved and appear in the main left hand pane

To Edit, highlight the fact in the left hand pane and double click. Edit details as in v.

To Delete, highlight the fact in the left hand pane and click the red cross top right of the left hand pane or right click and select delete.

If the fact you require doesn't exist, create it. Go to iii. and press New. Enter the details you require and press OK.

For example, I have created facts called Census Address and Census Occupation.

For shared facts, i.e. marriage details

i. Select one of the partners
ii. Click the Shared Fact button just beneath the female partner, the one with the man and woman image
iii. Select the tab fact and click the blue plus sign and proceed as before

You can also add shared notes by selecting the notes tab.

I find the notes useful for holding BMD detail

Individual noted will have birth and death i.e.

Births Jun 1927
Dewsbury 2b 596
Beau Nora (Beau)

Shared Notes the marriage details i.e.

Marriages Sept 1949
Dewsbury 2b 411
Allcar Ted F (Beau)
Beau Nora R (Allcar)
