People who do the bulk of the research whose results you see on these boards do not use GR. GR only take their info from other sites...........nothing on GR is 'exclusive', and, from what I read, their search options are very poor

I sometimes find I can find things on FMP and not Ancestry and vice versa. The searches have different criteria. FMP is more flexible for wildcards than GR.

Thanks to you all. I will give it a couple of coats of thinking about. Bob

I think you will find that many on here are now have just basic membership so they can access the Community Pages.

But a lot of people have subs to both Ancestry & FMP - its like a belt and braces approach. I have both and would not be without. Not cheap by any means but for me worthwhile.

Another thing if you want to print out a census for any reason the FMP printed version is much easier to work/look at.

How are you able to post here Ollie if you haven't renewed?

FMP have a lot of parish records, in particular Cheshire, Manchester and Canterbury.

I didn't renew here and joined FMP instead and haven't regretted it.

Check their home page. See what they offer.

GR is the same 'stable' as FMP.................

I am already a platinum member of Genes, and a similar member of Ancestry. Is there any advantage to joining FMP as well? Bob
