Is anyone living in Sweden or familiar with Swedish research? I would really appreciate some advice/possible help. My grandfather was born in Sweden in 1928 and came to England around 1946. He died here in 1981, and his birth cert, passport and naturalisation records have been destroyed sadly. He didn't really talk about his past. Im hoping to get his birth cert re-issued as without that I cant get any further at all. All I know is that he was born as Valdis Valdeman (or Valderman) Krilovs and his parents were Aleksander & Annette Krilovs (her maiden name unknown). Aleksander was a naval captain who died at sea and Annette remarried to a man with the surname Swensson/Swenson, but unsure when. Valdis' name was changed to Waldis (the Swedish spelling, I believe the spelling Valdis was from Eastern Europe, as is the surname Krilovs). Moving to England, he called himself Walter. I've had no luck looking at Swedish navy sites. If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it.

Thanks, I haven't a clue where in Sweden he came from so that might be a starting point. Much appreciated.
